Bio:

At the height of the hip hop craze and phenomena spreading everywhere….. the air of the culture’s influence has reached even the most political places of the world such as Washington, DC where few expect to find a “classic” breed of MC adorning a DC flag shown sitting in President Lincoln’s chair at the memorial on the cover art of his single entitled “State Hood”. Rasi Caprice (pronounced Rah’ See - Kah’ Prees) born Lonnie Rasheed Paul is definitely no stranger to his impact with his music and words as he returns to the surface with the release of his debut album (Taxation Without Representation) recently nominated “Independent Album of 2008” by the Independent Music Awards. After listening to the genius of Caprice’s rapid-tongued animated lyrics and capricious delivery you can’t help but feel as if you are now a spectator watching the rise to power of a DC-bred future hip hop icon whose style and finesse contends with many of America’s best. This diamond in the rough hailing from the Diamond District has a story that spreads across the entire landscape from his upbringing in the infectious neighborhoods of Northwest DC between Florida Avenue and Sursum Corda Projects to his tour as a Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps to returning home as a young vet in a world of pimps, players, hustlers and tricks where he was introduced to the legendary “Player’s Ball” which set the stage for Rasi Caprice as the opening act. After the independent release and promotion of his four independently released and distributed underground mixtape projects (most notably the release of Best Of Rasi Caprice Volume 2: District Of Caprice and Htown 2 DC feat. DJ P Cutta) Caprice grew the streets attention in not only the DMV but the “dirty” south as far as Houston, Texas where he relocated to in 2007 to tour and showcase his talent after being placed on an internationally released compilation album honoring the troops for his song entitled “Devil Dogz” distributed by One Stop distribution. He returned back to his hometown Washington, DC in 2008 for the 2nd time now as a locally respected rap veteran after the devastating news of his long time manager and cousin Pimp JUJU's incarceration. Rasi Caprice not only continues to blaze the stage with his dynamite showmanship but can be found performing his "activist" driven anthem "Free DC (Statehood)" in the likes of arenas such as Town Hall and Freedom Plaza. Caprice was recently recognized for his contribution to the cause of raising awareness to the issues of voting rights and the long coined "taxation without representation" slogan by the Washington Post on (washingtonpost.com) showing snippets of Caprice performing before elected officials such as Councilmember Michael Brown, Senator Michael Brown, Paul Strauss and Michael Panetta. After resigning from Listen Vision Studios for creative and professional differences, Rasi Caprice has moved on to a new chapter and continues to evolve as an artist and businessman. "The climate for change in DC is upon us like never before......and like never before has there been more focus on the issue of Taxation Without Representation then it is now on the hill and around the nation." Rasi Caprice also known as the "1st Rap President" is just the remarkable artist and visionary to tell DC's story of 'recession to progression' for being a recognized DC native and honored Marine Corps veteran. "Taxation Without Representation" is not only the story of the struggle in Washington, DC.....but the story of DC's own hip hop veteran and 1st Rap President.... Rasi Caprice. TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION (THE ALBUM) COMING SOON!
