Captain Tony One year Nov. 1st 2008, since Capt. Tony sailed on. Everyone Cheers to a Legend. "Our lives change like the weather, but a legend never dies." Posted at 1:57 AM Nov 2 from Mobile view more
Hello fellow Capt. Tony friends, my name is Tony W. Tarracino Jr. but majority of people call me TJ. I've been running this myspace page along side my finance' Holly Sapp, to connect family, friends, and fans to my father Capt. Tony. We used to print out everyone's comments, messages, and pictures and presented them to my Father. He always appreciated every kind word. He loved people and he loved even more to make people happy. I am sad to say as many of you already know he passed away November 1st 2008 at 2:15 PM. He was surrounded by his family and left this world with a smile. I personally want to thank each and every one of you who have wrote comments and messages sending your condolences. Your kind words has become a real upper for our family. When ever we need a reminder or good smile we could turn to everyone's gracious efforts in saying their goodbyes. The last few days of my father's life he told me that life is nothing but memories, that even though he is no longer a living being, he will always be alive by other's memories and stories. With that I would like my Father's myspace page to remain active and be a place for Friends, Family, Parrot heads, Weirdos, Pirates, Democrats, Republicans, Middlemen, or just people interested about who Capt. Tony the Legend was. Thank you again for being so kind to your fellow man.
Lastly I would like to share that a book written about my father's philosophy came out two weeks before his passing. If anyone is interested in purchasing a book your can locate it at any bookstore in Key West.
For those who don't live in Key West you can purchase it online at http://www. amazon. com/Life-Lessons-Legend-Bradley-Manard/dp/1439202222/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225751421&sr=1-1
The book is called "Life Lessons of a Legend" written by Brad Manard.
Once again one behalf of the Tarracino family we like to thank you for all the condolences given at this time.
Make Every Heart Beat Count
Take a look at the events that fill the pages of Captain Tony's life story and you will find danger, mystery, and passion for life. From his commendation from the President of the United States, to his escape from the mob in a milk truck...from running arms to soldiers in Cuba, to opening his world famous saloon...from being elected Mayor of Key West, to Captain of his own fishing boat known as the Greyhound... Captain Tony is living proof that you can make every heartbeat count. Immortalized in numerous magazines, television shows, a Hollywood film called,"Cuba Crossing," and a new book entitled "Life Lessons of a Legend." As a father of 13 and only 92 years young, Captain Tony has become synonymous with Key West and the legends that surround it. If you listen to his stories or take a look at the photos taken during his life, you'll find that his friends and supporters through the years read like a who's who of the 20th century. Among them... Truman Capote, Mel Fisher, Tennessee Williams, Earnest Hemmingway, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Allen Coe, Robert Wagner, Dan Marino, and Stuart Whitman. Probably the most famous of all of the Captain's friends however, is a young man who became like a son to him... songwriter and guitarist Jimmy Buffett. An unknown at the time they met, Jimmy would later create the image of Key West with his simple songs of an island paradise. Borrowing on the images and the stories of his friend the Captain, Jimmy found inspiration and wrote the song,"Last Mango In Paris" as a tribute to his old friend. Currently he just had his 92th birthday and is spending his time home in Key West with his family and friends and is up to his usual self. But if you should ever find yourself down and about in Key West, make sure you keep an eye open for a feisty old son of the sea... you just might learn first hand what it means when they say... Where the Ocean Meets the Man.
If you’re visiting Key West or are interested in taking the trip down to the Southernmost City in the Continental United States check out Capt. Tony's daughter Little Toni's website. She has her own concierge service here in Key West and she knows Key West better than anyone else. Take a look at her site, and leave her a message with any questions at all.
