The most sought after heart throb in the Grammy award-winning R&B group B2K, Jarell “BooG” Houston is ready to unleash his rap skills on hip hop heads all over the world with a vengeance. BooG was the first member of the group to leave three years ago and he is back in the studio putting the finishing touches on his solo debut Rap album appropriately titled “My First Words” which is set to release this Summer 2008. His first single titled “Park My Car in Your Space” has already received rave reviews from fans all over the country.
Don’t let the boy band fool you, BooG born and raised in Compton, California has been rapping, singing and dancing since the age of 8. Though constantly confronted by the perils of drugs and gangs he managed to find refuge through dance and music. His three year break from the business was immobilizing and served as a testimony to his struggle to evade the streets. His song titled “Don’t Knock My Hustle” expresses the struggles he faced trying to survive outside the group prior to his release from Sony Music Group in 2007.
BooG evokes controversy by establishing himself as one of hip hop’s best and versatile artists. He began writing his rhymes during his time off and is ready to articulate his thoughts, struggles and experiences to the world. “I know how much work goes into making something successful, and I’m not going to do someone else’s gimmick. I’m writing my own music this time about how I really feel.” BooG intends to express himself through his own words and refuses to submit to the requests of the mainstream.
BooG has most recently joined forces with Co-CEO/music manager Damuer Leffridge and is managed through their own Capitalist Entertainment Group. Just last year alone since his release from Sony, BooG completed his second feature film titled “Steppin”. In it he will star opposite Darius McCrary, Mo’Nique and Sticky Fingaz. He is also slated to co-star in the comedic sitcom “Mama’s Boys” which is set to premiere on ABC. His debut in the 2004 block buster smash “You Got Served” not only proved he has the moves but also proved he has the making of a movie star.
His naughty lyrical stance will blow your mind at first, but as you listen you will revel in the music. When it comes to stepping out as a solo artist BooG sticks to what he knows. He co-wrote and produced several songs with B2K while never receiving the deserved credit or compensation. Now he is in control of his career and ready to show the world what he is capable of. Despite what folks may say about this drastic change from R&B to Hip Hop, the B-Double O-G has the skills and is a definite threat to the Rap game. This hot, young rapper is the best kept secret in the music industry and will not stop until he is given the respect and credit he deserves. Look for his mixtape entitled “The Sixth Day”, bob your head and experience the lyrical flow of the Return of the B-Double O-G.
