After the disintegration of previous bands (the post rock influenced Forevergreen, 'rock n roll' band Holster, and indie poppers Clifton), three friends from Brisbane decided to form a band with the idea of focussing on short & energetic songs in a kind of math rock / post punk vein, while mixing in a pop style. Of course, these three friends being who they were (and still are), the results often landed wide of that mark (somehow elements as diverse as 50's swing and spaghetti western music found their way into the band's songs.... wtf?!?).
FAQ:
Q: Why call yourselves such a stupid name as 'Captain W00t'?
A: Because a) its funny (to us at least), and b) names arent important. See our song titles.
Q: Are you called 'Captain W00t' or 'Captain W00t & The Slide of Man'
A: Either. Captain W00t is quicker to write and say though. Or you can call us 'CW&TSoM' (pronounced 'cwandtsom').
Q: O's or zeros?
A: Zeros.
Q: Have you guys broken up?
A: For all intents and purposes, yes.
ps: Cameron recorded these songs himself on his own equipment. He has also recorded for The John Steel Singers, as well as his (and Pat's) other bands Fickle Beasts and Mt Augustus. If you're a Brisbane band that could be described as falling under the wide banner of 'indie' and you want to be recorded (either for a proper release or just for demos) then send us (me) a message and we'll see what can be organised.
