  • Bio

Cap is a die-hard folkie troubadour with country, roots, rock, psychedelic, reggae, and punk sensibilities. He played in a variety of different bands during the 80's. Previous musical incarnations include: The Purgatory Good Time Band, Decade, Age of Reason, and an entirely fictitious (yet mutually satisfying) association with the seminal surf band of the Great Plains, Los Longboards. He has spent countless hours busking on the Pacific Garden Mall in Santa Cruz and Telegraph Avenue in Berzerkley. Cap has a lifelong association with Los Dudes (formerly of Orange County). He has been inspired by a long tradition of anti-fascist singer-songwriters including: Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Phil Ochs, Gil Scott-Heron, Johnny Cash, Buffy Sainte-Marie, John Prine, Holly Near, Billy Joe Armstrong, Bono, Lee Ving, and Joe Strummer. Cap divides his time and limited attention span between his wonderful family, demanding job as a History and English teacher, and the siren call of music. Having taken a nearly 25 year hiatus from performing music, he has returned with a vengence. Inspired by delusions of adequacy, and the persistent support of unwise friends and family, he refuses to give up the dream. Now, 30 years in the making, Cap's first CD will soon arrive. East of Eden will contain ten original songs for your perusal and (hopefully) enjoyment. All ten songs from this CD appear here on this myspace. It would mean a lot to him if you would take the time to listen to, and comment on, the songs offered up here. If you like them, or know someone else who you think might, please pass the word along. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..I wrote these songs. The others involved are blameless. Be that as it may, several friends gave generously of their time and creative energies. Mr. Brian Redden plays on many tracks. (drum tracks, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, lap steel, keyboards, backing vocals) He also produced all these songs at Mr. Man Studios, in Santa Cruz, California. Michael T. Kirstein contributed his butt kicken' harmonies and mandolin on "East of Eden 5:23 am". Cap's son, Aaron, plays harmonica on "Path of Changes". Sri Baba Philba plays the shroody box on "Path of Changes" and "Winter's Seed". Ms. Sara Glaser added beautiful harmony vocals to "Winter's Seed". I do the following: writing, lead and harmony vocals, harmonica, acoustic rhythm guitar, keyboards, lead guitar "Path of Changes". .............. ..............Create your own visitor map!....
