Kristi Michele is a girl who has been singing songs since she very first figured out how. It began very humbly, her audience a mere assembly of plush stuffed things in her bedroom. After capturing the hearts of all the inanimate objects in her house, as well as the unwavering adoration of her mother, her father, and nearly all of her blood relatives, she endeavored to venture out of her four walls into the big, wide world. As soon as her roof became nothing but the broad sky above her, a torrential downpour of musical inspirations rained down, and few genres escaped the cacophony that resulted! Early influences were as diverse as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Salt-n-Pepa. Equipped with a Casio keyboard, a karaoke machine, and a demo version of "Cakewalk", the 12-year-old Kristi Michele began pursuing her recording career in earnest. Next were the live shows, where her performance skills began to blossom: she graced the stages of the local public schools in near-sold out performances of Little Red Riding Hood, Pirates of Penzance, Grease, and countless others, perhaps most notably her writing/directorial debut "Forest Dump", an expose on pollution that was far ahead of its time in 1994, when San Jose Elementary's fifth grade class presented it. Since, she has read many books, taken up the autoharp, and become fascinated with circus arts, all of which have been ingredients thrown into a veritable witch's cauldron that have helped brew the musical, magical potion she creates.
Kristi Michele has just released her first album, entitled "Bric-a-Brac: A Collection of Musical Stories, Sentences, and Half-Words." True to the title, the album is an accurate reflection of KM's music sensibility- meandering between lilting finger-picked folk songs, quasi-orchestral instrumentals, and theatrical piano tunes in waltz time. It begins and ends with snippets of an a cappella recording of a song called "Everywhere Is My Candy Shop", which is a peek into the all-vocal project Kristi Michele is currently working on. She is also planning to release another full-length album by 2010, a concept album inspired in part by the Sylvia Plath poem "The Moon and the Yew Tree" which will explore the wonders of science, color, sound, and unrequited love. She is also in the midst of writing a musical, tentatively entitled "Miriam", which takes place entirely within the pages of a storybook.
Kristi Michele is currently vacillating between Los Angeles and Portland, OR and will be playing shows in those areas, as well as all the spaces in between, and more outside of that altogether.
hey there! i didn't know you left... i thought we just became unfriended due to our own silly lives... are you moving back or just visiting? WHAT'S UP?? :)
My sister went and bought the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer and I read all three books in five days (would have been quicker, but Irelyn and Chloe needed attention). Haha. So I am going to read the last book when it comes out next month and then I am going to see how The Host is. In December the movie version of Twilight comes out. I am insanely obssessed with it all now. You might want to check out those other books if you liked The Host. The first one in the series is a little slow though.
Me too! I hope Irelyn warms up to you guys really fast, cause she is a lot of fun. Chloe kind of eats, sleeps, poops and eats right now.. so she is not so shy. :op

I LOVE the new songs you just posted! Beautiful! Who's doing the instruments? Good Morning Heartache makes me picture an old jazz club in the 40's and you wearing pearls, leaning on a smoky piano. Am I right? xoxo ALI
