Car Crash Superstar are a recently formed Melbourne based alternative rock band, and although they have only just begun to venture out into the tumultous free-for-all that is the Melbourne music scene, their early shows are garnering some glowing fictitious reviews, such as: "Rock-tastically magi-licious!", "Is that an Aria in my pocket or do these guys just rock?!" and "The solution to global warming!" to quote just a few.
Car Crash Superstar formed late in 2007. Long-time collaborators Matt Ledgerwood, (blessed with the banshee like vocal power to level a major city) and Jay "Monkey Hands" Powell(guitarist, with the hands of a monkey) were disillusioned with the music scene in their hometown of Wollongong, NSW, and decided to make the move to the city of Melbourne, Victoria, in the hopes that it's vibrant music scene would provide them with the perfect environment to pursue their musical ambitions. Once there, they began auditioning for members and were soon joined by "Magic" Dan Boscolo on drums. They then quickly recorded a demo(as heard on this site) in the hopes of attracting a bass player. After a few false starts they finally found a bass player in Jason Fury or L'il Timmy Fury as his friends call him.
Car Crash Superstar's unique sound is grounded in the alternative music of the mid 90's but with a modern, heavier, almost melodramatic feel resulting in cleverly crafted tunes with infectious melodies and catchy hooks, with a hard edge that still makes you want to dance. Some of the bands they count as influences are The Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Silverchair, Sparta, and Motor Ace.
Currently Car Crash Superstar are gigging around Melbourne to establish a fanbase and are hoping to raise money towards recording an EP later this year.
