Whether boggling minds with live mash-ups, dropping jaws with turntable skills, or just letting another pearler from his heavyweight crate of beats do its job, DJ Moneyshot bare rocks the spot.
His killer mix of straight-up club bangers, curveball oddities, Hip-Hop classics and Funky Break workouts have tickled dancefloors the world over, and won him firm fans like Yoda, Food and Andy Smith, as well as hordes of big name radio DJs.
Since he caught the itch to scratch over a decade ago Moneyshot has smashed everywhere from European nuclear bunkers, Australian Full Moon raves to Red Bull boat parties in Bristol. And he's shared bills with the likes of Coldcut, Grandmaster Flash, Gilles Peterson and Yoda. US Rap act Ugly Duckling even named a B-Side 'Cardiff' after coming to rock his night in the Welsh capital.
In the studio his championship mixtape making skills have made this turntable tare-away a double threat. His award-winning efforts for Ninja Tune’s epic Solid Steel radio shows, XFM and the BBC 1, 6Music and 1 Xtra have become the stuff of legend.
Whether they push unearthed Rock gems like his Mother’s Ruin set, Broadway musicals like Showtune Dummies!! or a wild variety of dancefloor Funk and Hip-Hop like The Dischandler, each one has helped Moneyshot develop a strong following the world over.
So much so that in 2008, as part of Ninja Tune’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, he was asked to join the official ranks of the Solid Steel
DJ crew as part of the next generation of genre-smashing club DJs set to take over the globe.
The tail end of 2009 sees Moneyshot hitting the studio again, this time turning his hand to making his own tracks. So expect the magic he spins in mixes and at the hypest clubs in his forthcoming beats.
For more info, hit a brudda up at contact@djmoneyshot.co.uk, or visit him at his online haunt, www.djmoneyshot.co.uk.
1) He was once a resident DJ for the UK And-1 Basketball team, but looked silly in a plus-size team jersey.
2) His four-deck shows with brother in tone-arms Parker are plain off the hook.
3) He's a fully paid up journalist, having contributed Serato master classes to Computer Music and features for Wax Poetics and HHC. Catch him every month in Future Music, his monthly Classic Album features have included Beck's Odelay, Goldie's Timeless and Nuyorican Soul's self-titled debut.
4) XFM took him on as a disc jock in 2007, chairing a weekend show throughout Wales, until the station got axed. Boo.
5) On his 2009 Australian tour he graced magazine covers, took over the decks on drive-time national radio, and played clubs in every state.
