Sounds Like
Ooh... I've had a few different ones... Tom Waits, Radiohead, Ben Folds, Jack Johnson, Jamie Cullum, Nick Drake, Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Del Amitri and Crowded House... they're the ones I'm proud of anyways.
You scored as Iceman. Iceman is a very powerful but volitile X-man. His ego and reluctance to follow orders means that he often clashes with Cyclops. Despite being immature sometimes, he's very popular with the ladies and is an extremely powerful X-Man. Powers: Can lower the temperature in areas around him. Basically, he has a near limitless ability to freeze things and make massive amounts of ice.
Cardinal Dextrous (aka Rob Waters) was born on 3rd February 1983 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Since then, he's done music basically. He cut his teeth with school band 'Asylum' back in 1995, but they were pretty shit to be honest. After pissing around in a Radiohead covers band for a while, the bug grew and grew, and with 'Meths', a band started by 'Rebel Jane' frontman and old friend, Cameron Laing, he played lead guitar, sang backing vocals, and the band played at venues such as West One Four and London Astoria 2.
After graduation from Maidstone Grammar School, the band went their seperate ways and Rob was left bandless once again. Very soon after starting at Geordieland University, he met Chris Parr (now back in his native Bolton with 'The Cuteness Window,') and started short lived melodic indie band, 'Tier', with whom he recorded his own songs in the studio for the first time. 'Ecstasy' was one of these. After only one gig, 'Tier' disbanded, and Rob and Chris went on to form '3 Hours Wasted,' who made a few waves on the Newcastle scene before playing 'In The City' at the Live Cafe in Manchester. After various disagreements (and 'musical differences' I suppose), they disbanded too after recording four EPs.
At this point, Rob concentrated on solo type stuff for a while, playing piano at various bars, and with an extensive repertoire of cover versions, performing at weddings and other functions for a bit of cash. He started a popular music degree at Newcastle College in 2005 (which he's still doing) and there he met the founding members of MHQ, a band he joined alongside two friends of his, Simon Cairns (Ralziel) and The Reverend Andy Mackin. After a few gigs, this band also folded due to pressures from other commitments.
So now, Rob's bandless again, but with a few irons in the fire, the major one being an acoustic rock / funk project with some college buddies - watch this myspace for more details.
UPDATE: February 2009, and Rob is back on MySpace for the first time in months... and no longer bandless. As of a few days ago, he is now the keys player for popular funky hip-hop outfit The 27 Club - the album is available on iTunes and you can find the video of "Hardcore" on YouTube - Rob wasn't involved in any of the stuff that you'll find online, but they'll be gigging across the country before long if you wanna check 'em out.
Incidentally, Rob really hates writing about himself in the third person, but for some reason it makes it read better...
The solo stuff still gets a regular airing - Rob helps to run "Telegraph Sessions" at the Telegraph, Newcastle every Thursday. He also helps to run the pub quiz "Telegraph Questions" every Wednesday at the same venue.
Forget About The Girl - Written as a commissioned song 'in the style of Ben Folds' for College. Written about a break up (as are a lot of Folds' songs) and dedicated to Lally for her help sending me Ben Folds tracks I could rip off. Well, not really, but it did help to listen to a few of them first.
Nailed and Rusted - Written way back in the 3 Hours Wasted days, but only used once. We weren't a very funky band... It's about getting drunk and not having a frickin' clue what's going on around you, hence how quite a few of my mates have identified with the lyrics.
Song For Rachel - Does what it says on the tin really - The Rachel in question is my cousin who came to me for advice after a painful break up. This brought back memories of a painful break up of my own which I'd never really finished getting over. Writing this song helped - a lot. So this one's for you cuz, thanks for being my muse! x x
These Things - Written about 3 weeks after first coming to Newcastle University, about spending my student loan on alcohol and a guitar and not telling my parents. Still in my regular live performance rotation.
Ecstasy - Written in 1998 about an ecstasy overdose. Depressing, but still one of my faves.

Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. Kevin made a little video at my studio last week while we were recording....check it out http://myspacetv. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=vids. individual&videoid=34589518
There are a series of shows in England and Scotland....dates are on my myspace.
We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend.
Anyway, take care and hope to see you there.
