Carey Germana's music is described as "getting beneath the skin and into the blood," by Sam McClain, blues recording artist.
Who am I? Carey Germana is a singer/songwriter and a modern musician with classic sounds. Carey blends jazz and blues to create her fresh, original songs! Carey has been a songwriter since the 1980's and is working on her first DEMO recording. Carey's song "Breathe" was released on a compilation CD in 2007 as the title track of the album put out in association with "Faith, Hope and Love" of Indianapolis. Carey won 4th place performing the song downtown at the Circle in Indianapolis, July of 2007.
Music Bio: Carey's dad was a concert flute player with the United State Air Force Band and had played upright base in a rock band in the early 60's! Carey was exposed to a lot of styles in music: Jazz, Latin, Opera, R&B, Blues, Folk, Classical...to name a few!
"I was introduced to Bassoon in 6th grade band and progressed throughout high school to become 2nd in the state of Arkansas as a soloist musician. I won several full scholarships as a concert bassoonist but we moved to Washington DC area my senior year of high school. I have played percussion for several years in marching band and I thought we were the original drumline (ever see the movie?). My dad was an amazing musician and loved to tinker around with his organ for many years. Eventually, as technology progressed, dad bought a nice keyboard that was in our living room for many years. I never took piano lessons but learned by ear to play a few songs I wrote. Eventually, I added lyrics to the music and progressed into singing publicly at my church.
From there, I was married to another aspiring musician in my early 20's and had my 2 beautiful children (now teens). After a messy divorce, I went back to singing and did a few gigs on the East Coast and locally in the Indianapolis area. I was remarried in 2002 to Marc Sherman (who has a powerful testimony for Christ) and I joined a group of songwriter's with the Central Indiana Christian Songwriter's Association (CICSA) in 2006 and have gigged locally for a few years in "songwriter's in the round". I was working on my first demo when I found out my mother was very sick! (Spring 2008). The demo is not ready to fully release but I have posted samples while I navigate my family crisis! If you are interested in keeping up to date on my music gigs and opportunities, please sign up for my fan list and I will email you monthly! I am also tinkering with "home recordings" and know the vocal quality can't be matched to studio recordings, but as finances permit, we will get those kinks worked out!" -Carey Germana-Sherman

Hometown:I grew up in the 70's-80's as an Air Force kid with 5 brothers and sisters. My dad was committed to the military and was on assignment in Vietnam when I was born. My family moved every 2 years or so and I lived in the following places in the U.S.: Memphis, TN; Ft. Campbell, KY; Warner Robins, GA; BAFB, CA; Independence, KS; SanAntonio, TX; Alma, AR; Fairfax, VA; Galveston, TX; Terre Haute, IN; Casey, IL; Indianapolis, IN.
I was a happy kid! I love my siblings dearly and know my parents worked hard to raise us with love and respect for each other and the Christian Faith we all grew to live out loud! We mostly attended the Assembly of God church but also Methodist and Community Churches.
My brothers and sisters grew up in a home where we lacked nothing! There was plenty of everything to meet our needs. When dad retired from the military, money was very tight with 8 people in the family. We got help through some great organizations at times when money was short (Salvation Army, Church Food Pantry, friends, etc.). Living in the United States and having support from our local church group pretty much guaranteed our provision.

Marc and I support a little girl named Suchitra from India through Compassion. The reward of watching her grow and develop is precious to our family. We've received several letters from our sponsored child and pictures of her as well. Please consider giving your support to a child sponsored through Compassion!
