About me:

In a nutshell: a nice, funny, creative, sporty, single, blessed and favored Christian guy! As far as my career, I have been a network TV producer and director for 28 years after a few years in radio and print media! Yes you have seen my many productions over the years via TV networks and DVD's! I was born in Birmingham, Alabama to two great Christian deaf parents. Started attending First Baptist Church of Birmingham when I was two weeks old and although my church has changed I have never missed more than one Sunday since. The point? My faith is my core and is who I really am. I graduated from Center Point Elementary, E. B Erwin High School, Jefferson State and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I was always involved in sports as well as church and thought I would be a coach or get into sports medicine. I signed a scholarship with Jefferson State Basketball team but after one year it was clear I was not in God's will and I followed my passion of radio where God had plans for me in media. I started my media career as a teenager working for local papers in Birmingham then working in radio in Birmingham. I started WJSR in Birmingham and the station was named "Best Radio Station" by the Birmingham News. My worst stint was at a country radio station WSMQ. This was before the genre was like it is today and the songs were hick songs. My air names were Dr. K and JJ Cruse. In 1980 I met Mother Angelica and the rest is history. I joined her vision and became one of her first employees to start EWTN, Eternal Word Television Network. EWTN is now the world's largest Christian TV and also radio network on the air today. Lots of people know it today as "The Global Catholic network." I will probably write a book about my experience there but I am waiting to let Mother pass on to heaven before I tell some of my stories. She is quite a woman of God but human like us all. In 1986 I decided with all the incredible experience I was blessed with at EWTN with state of the art equipment to start my own company named Commercial Video South, later renamed Harvest Media in honor of my church in Anniston, Alabama who became a partner with me in the endeavor. The company is simply called HMTV today. HMTV developed from doing commericals, corporate videos, graphic design and cable advertising into a speciality of doing special event live remote TV production. I had a ton of experience doing live TV for all the major networks back in the early 80's so this was a natural for me. My very first live show was Nightline on ABC and that got me over my nerves real quick. HMTV's big break was when I was asked by a local cable system in Alabama, that we had already been selling air time for locally, to produce local football games to air in that market. Combined with cameras from HMTV and Harvest church we started doing the games and was very successful. We won awards for production and the games were selling out all advertising avails. We next moved on to shoot minor league baseball with the Birmingham Barons and a new player called Michael Jordan. To make a very long story short... the events just kept getting bigger and bigger for the top TV networks in the world. We eventually did super bowls, final fours, olympics, and have shot over 10,000 major professional and collegate sporting events for the various TV networks. Yes networks hire us to produce these events for them. They do not own any remote equipment trucks like we have. They hire companies like us and let us have all the stress and hassle of facilites and crews on the road and we send them the video and audio signal back to the network master control with their graphic packages and announcers so they can broadcast to viewers. These projects have been released for mass distribution on TV networks and for world wide retail sales. Yes I even brought Elvis back alive. See my "TV credits" link at www.careygoin.com. Our company has won over a 100 awards and nominations for productions including dozens of Grammy, Stellar, Dove, Emmy, Addy's. HMTV has generated millions of dollars in revenues. The best part is that I have been blessed to travel all over the world on shoots and on vacations and met so many interesting people, some famous and not so famous but all interesting. From Popes to Presidents to tribesmen in the middle of Africa, to movie stars to tv starts to music artists. They actually bore me now and don't really care about "celebrity." I have been blessed to see some of the most awesome places on our planet. I have been to all 50 states and most countries at least once. During all this time I was still involved in ministry as Media Director at Harvest Church in Anniston producing programming and handling all the technical stuff for the church. It grew from a couple hundred people to over a thousand and found property by Interstate 20 and helped build a new multi-million dollar facility. In the late 90's I decided to go back to school and was asked by the dean to teach. I did for 6 years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham while I got my Masters degree. It was also at this time I finally became a licensed ordained minister after 20 years of full time ministry which I consider to be my first call in life. Life doesn't make sense to me without some real purpose for it all and that is sharing the Good News of Jesus! I have been blessed to work and help the biggest ministries in the world like Billy Graham, TBN, Daystar, God Channel, and dozens more mega ministries reach the world with The Gospel. In 2005 HMTV was sold to Vision Broadcasting of Florida and I moved down to Jacksonville Beach and still serve as in a consultant role being Executive Director for HMTV. I also serve as media director at a mega-church, New Life Christian Fellowship, and its school Providence in Jacksonville, Florida. www.nlcf.org www.prov.org Since the move HMTV business exploded and my free lance oppprtunties have gone off the chart! I had to give up the teaching job at UAB with so many amazing opportunites but I miss not teaching. God has opened so many amazing doors for me I had to walk in His will. I absolutely love living at the beach and around so many great golf courses, great weather, incredible restuarants and dear friends I have made here in Jacksonville! But the highlight for me is ministering at the best church with the best amazing staff ever! Life is good! God is awesome! I have not been blessed yet to finally settle down but I hope to one day if God wills. God's grace has been sufficient! It has been an incredible ride with everyday being so exciting. I look forward to seeing what God has in store!
