Carin is a Christian, a wife, a mom, a singer, a songwriter, a keyboard, bass and yes, JK even admits guitar player now…. She collects guitars apparently in hopes that it will help her playing, though the electric still collects dust. She’s a woman who’s strong, outspoken and courageous, and a girl who struggles with image, acceptance, and never feeling “good enough, cool enough, thin enough, pretty enough…or whatever enough” for an American Idol world. It is God’s grace alone that has shown that He has carefully guided her steps and prepared her for just the work He had in mind, and that by sharing her struggles she can reach hearts with the message of the grace that saved her.
Carin’s music began as a child, and led her through college at Belmont University in Nashville. It was there she spent time in the music industry, always too insecure to trust her talent enough to pursue it, but learning much from her now successful peers. After 7 years, she stopped all together, feeling she had nothing to say that hadn’t been said before, and was tired of putting so much effort towards someone else’s fortune, or to a pursuit that wasn’t going to change lives, or positively impact the world. She met and married JK, and welcomed his job transfer to Cleveland. Though she loves and misses Nashville to this day, it was ironically the move away from music city that brought turned her into a musician. After a year long break from even listening to music, it was when she and her husband JK were looking for a church home, that she realized she had some background that could be of use to the local churches, since none compared musically to the huge Nashville church they left behind. Within months she was asked to lead the band, and was leading worship. In 2003, after attending a conference and seeing Paul Baloche lead worship, her calling was clear. There’s been no turning back since. She led worship at Kent Presbyterian Church on the campus of Kent State University for over 5 years. In that time, she and the band became known all over Ohio, and played many concerts for other churches, events festivals, and in Spring of ’08 at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Carin’s most recent adventure was to the 2100 member Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC in November of 2009, where she is the worship leader of Spark – a cutting edge worship service aimed at youth, young adults and young families, blending the best of current and relevant culture with authentic and Spirit led worship. The newly launched service under Carin’s direction had standing room only these recent opening weeks, and aspires to be a lighthouse to other churches and worshipers locally and globally. Carin and band are writing fresh hip hop fusion worship songs that feature her silky vocals and the rap stylings of bandmate Dorian Edwards.

I hope you had a nice weekend with your parents! I sent an email asking for your address in NC and never heard back. I have a package for Miss Mara, but don't know where to send it!
Blessed Love May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand. May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give you the strength to walk through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism. Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will always be there, even when you feel most alone. May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending.
Teach love to those who hate, and let that love embrace you as you go out into the world. May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched and whose have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than the form.
May you not become too concerned with material matters, but instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart. Find time each day to see beauty and love in the world around you. Realize that each person has limitless abilities, but each of us is different in our own way. What you feel you lack in the present may become one of your strengths in the future. May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility. Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience. May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, and not be dependent on an others judgment of your accomplishments. May you always feel loved. I am honored to call you my friend!
:) I miss you! Yes, you can re-post my musings on love and the fragility of romance...I'd love to hear stories from other happy couples to continue to restore my belief that I'll find just one of the six men that are meant for me :)
I saw your momma's picture in the Athol Daily News on line and thought she does not age at all she is just how I remember her. just like you. how are things going? looks like you had a blast at the RRHoF I am so proud to know you.
Thank you for the encouraging comment! I am very excited to be a part of what God will do through this new group. It was a blessing getting to just come together, talk about Christ, pray, and sing with other believers. And I love your music! I've been singing "Live in Me" all week. Thanks for the blog comment as well, those are lyrics that I wrote for a song that's unfinished still. Have a blessed day!
Okay, so the re-mix of Evil Little Voice is even better than the version I have, and I didn't think it could get any more fantastic! I groove to that in my car all of the time. Talk about truth!
I can not wait to hear more about the rock hall! You are totally my hero, and you look AMAZING!!!
It's really not fair...you shouldn't be allowed to be so talented, inspiring, AND good looking. Come to think of it, I generally don't like people like you at all! :)
♥ "BEAUTIFUL MOMMIES" ♥ Once you've been hit, you have to hit 8 awesome moms. If you get hit again you will know you are really "Beautiful". If you break the chain nothing will happen, really! But it's always nice to hear that someone thinks you're Beautiful!
Hi! I saw in the newspaper that you are leading worship at a women's retreat in Jackson. I am interested in coming! Can you tell me more about the retreat and what the day consists of?
Would you please uproot your family and move to Muncie to lead worship for our church (pro bono, of course)? I feel like we're in turmoil over what direction to go in, and I think you're our only solution. I think the Lord is calling you here...yes! :)
I (not surprisingly) really love the new song. You just get better and better. Your songs inspire so much thought and I love that they contain more than 10 words. :)
In regards to your blog, I really think that most of us are a bit ADD when it comes to listening to music. Most people hum along with the radio with no idea what the words are. I'd just forgive the two in question and chalk it up to human insensitivity.
I, however, am always happy to listen attentively. :)
Miss you bunches! Do I get an award for longest comment in myspace history? :)
