CARISSA'S BIO

Carissa escalated to local fame at only eleven years old while singing as the opening act for the legendary soul singer Percy Sledge when his tour came to Boston. Since then she has performed at many venues some singers only dream about.

She was the youngest person ever at the time, being only eleven years old, to sing the National Anthem for the Boston Bruins at the FleetCenter. Her National Anthem tour continued with performances at Foxboro Stadium, Boston University’s Nickerson Field, and a return to the FleetCenter for another Bruins’ game. She has also sung the National Anthem for the Boston Celtics at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Other high profile performances have been singing at the DCR Hatch Shell, the Massachusetts State House, the MassCap at Suffolk Downs, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism Road Race, the former WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz’s official celebration, numerous feasts and festivals, and at radio and television sponsored events.

Her amazing vocals were showcased in New York City at a national competition where her efforts paid off when she won a Youth Vocal award. Other winnings have included: an Alicia Keys Singing Competition at the former Boston’s Virgin Records Megastore, an American Idol Karaoke Competition judged by American Idol finalists, placing as a Boston finalist for NBC’s reality show “The Most Talented Kid in America”, and winning the Beethoven Society Music Award as well as winning other local contests. Standing ovations have become quite common, in particular, her appearance at a Night for Heroes with nationally known comedians and other singers.

She was nominated by one of her Berklee professors to audition for Berklee's Vocal Styles Concert. She nailed the audition and got to perform in the show. (see video).

Carissa is also a hit with the media; she has been interviewed on WILD 1090 am and 1110 am WCCM, sang live on WROR 105.7 fm and Oldies 103.3 fm, sang televised renditions of the National Anthem on NESN and NECN, appeared on various community access television stations, and has been featured in many newspapers and billboards in Massachusetts.

Carissa competed on the New England television talent show "Community Auditions - Star of the Day" where she won four weeks in a row and was awarded the Star of the Day each time. She even received a perfect score from the judges during the third week! Winning four times automatically earns the singer a spot to perform in their finals.

Carissa performed in the Community Audition: Star of the Day finals and won a spot in the Grand Championship Finals. She competed in the 2008 Grand Championship Final Show and did an awesome job getting rave reviews from judges such as Joyce Kulhawik, Candy O'Terry, and Barry Nolan.

She was invited to perform at the Scullers Jazz Club at an event called “Stars Over Boston” hosted by Liz Brunner of WCVB channel 5 news.

Carissa has performed at a few malls throughout the Boston area. At the Southshore Plaza in Braintree, MA, and at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA, where Carissa opened for Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical fame.

Last summer, she opened for the great Italian tenor, Aaron Caruso, who is starring on Broadway.

Carissa was invited to perform at Foxwoods Resort Casino for the TV show Community Auditions: Star of the Day. She performed a duet with reality TV star, Dan Evans, from “The Biggest Loser” and the band Coaltrain for the Hey U.G.L.Y. (Unique, Gifted, Lovable, You) organization. Hey U.G.L.Y.’s mission is to provide self-esteem and diversity-building programs for teens.

She received the prestigious 2009 Berklee College of Music "Voice Department Achievement Award".

Carissa is in her Senior year at Berklee College of Music and is double majoring in Vocal Performance and Professional Music. She performed in many shows at Berklee College of Music, including a show with ledgendary producer Don Was.
