Dominic Cramp (oakland) is the keyboard player for evangelista. he plays like a dervish stuck in a honey pot. he's currently in charge of secretly holding our music together every night onstage while maintaining n air of someone who's just read a good secret note that he's been keeping in his underpants for just the right moment-----except he ALWAYS looks like that. so i guess he may be the epitome of the "be here now" experience. he does Modular Set Gigante Sound Arthur Dent. plus he is Qulfus. He plays with the heroic Ricardo of militant children's hour. he's deep into electronics and we hope to expand our sound accordingly. he is a sonic prnkster. i highly reccomend the qulfus cd. i like it every time and always. very relaxing!
andrea serrapiglio (alessandria, italy) is the cellist. he seems to like us. i am really still in shock that we found someone as magical as him. he is a beautiful sound. he plays the cello like butter and crushed glass. he loves electronics and makes peddles, bends circuits, is bent. he's played with many great improvisers and i suggest you visit his myspace page myspace.com/bassandread to read about some of the musics he does.
jason van gulick is our drummer for europe. i played with him in his hometown of lille during my solo tour last year and we clicked. his project, degas, opened the show and were hot. he's excellent. so i got to thinking about it and here we all are.
gambletron will be drumming starting june 7 in montreal. she calls her solo performance self a lo-fi, hack sound machine ...couple of shitty amps....cheesy keyboard on the right, guitar on left, shitty mics, drums on feet, toy instuments bent--up, loops loops loops, reel 2 reels, vocals, narration, sometimes a soundtrack for popular NFB filmstrips----the beaver, the story of oil.... projects include: Hrsta...banging on hello, voyager... past projects (Unitard, The Degenerators, Molasses, Anabelle Chvostek, Jordi Rosen, queen size shag. lap top dancer. i call her one of my favorite human friends and put her instincts for sound in my closest inside pocket.
on our north american tour up through april 19--- at the cake shop the drummer has been adam baz. he's a young whip, fantastic player. special friend. incredible visual artist. skater. he was in night wounds and is in ghost to falko and plays around in portland with lots of stuff.
i'm currently the sole guitarist in evangelista. it's cool cuz i have a hurt paw and the music is going to shift...............................
starting in austin march 14 and going on through los angeles march 20, jeremy drake was the guitarist and he joined us for our UK dates. it was the first time Evangelista had another guitarist on tour besides me and it was SO GREAT to play with jeremy, who i think the goddamn world of. he's played with elani mandell to nels to jessica catron of the night porter and much improvised musics----a special person to LA's music and ecologic conditions.
Ava Mendoza (oakland) joined us after jeremy and has been with us ever since. you will hear her play tonite if you come down to the market hotel. she is one of the best guitarists i've ever heard and it's crazy that we finally get to play together. she's in mute socialite and caroliner rainbow and ... tomorrow at the cake shop is our last show with her and adam for a while which is sad because the band is BURNING right now.
