Carla Tolbert Taylor was born in Memphis, TN to Dr. & Mrs. Odie Tolbert Jr. Influenced by her father, who was a singer before becoming completely deaf, Carla was determined to live out her father's dreams by singing the good news of the gospel. Singing for as long as she can remember, Carla has always brought a certain flair to music. She doesn't just sing, Carla personifies music. She takes her audience away from the everyday struggles and takes them to a place of comfort and solace. Not only gifted, this anointed singer has proven her grace and gift by sharing the stage with several notable artists such as Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Marvin Winans, Kim Burrell, the Clark sisters, Ted & Sheri, Shea Norman, and a host of other gospel artists. Carla’s gift made room for her as a premier soloist with the late Bishop G.E. Patterson for a number of years. She has appeared on Bobby Jones Gospel and TBN. Recently, Carla was awarded the honor of being the national winner of the 2008 Gospel Superfest opening act contest. Carla’s support by fans across the country allowed her to win by thousands of votes. This allowed her the opportunity to open up for world renown artists such as John P. Kee, Mary Mary, Byron Cage, KiKi Sheard, just to name a few. Throughout her career and travels, she has touched the hearts of many lives. Carla reaches in and captures the soul of her listeners. She is the true epitome of the total package in Christian song - graceful, anointed, and powerful in voice and spirit.
