After a decade of rehearsing, recording, touring, cursing & drinking with a couple of rockbands, though lots of laughs and good memories, somehow it never seemed satisfactory enough. Tired and somewhat disillusioned I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine - to make a swinging, stomping & full blowing big band record!
I grew up in a home full of music and old time classics such as Elvis, Sinatra, Armstrong to mention a few, and my heroes were always writers like Irving Berlin, Gerschwin and Cole Porter. The way they put words and music together seemed like magic to me, and when you add the arrangers, musicians and singers - well that's just heaven. I wanted to live and breath in that elusive, I guess to some hokey & corny, but to me always beautiful, dreamland of romance & evergreens. It just had a certain feel to it that I always loved, so that was my inspiration and aspiration.
So I started writing songs and all the scores, a few years and obstacles later, mainly financial, with a little help from my friends, I put the band together and recently recorded about 20 songs under the working title "Starswinger". Here are a few tracks from the album, please listen and make a comment or two, if you're anything like me I think you'll enjoy it!
so lovely to hear from you... On my end everything is fine, tx, apart from the fact that the weather is getting colder day by day and by mid December I'm surely to turn into an ice cube!! I hope you're doing great and that you're having LOTS of fun :)...
