Carl Funk is a long time performer singer/songwriter living in Seattle. Former member of the ground-breaking Seattle group The Allies, Carl co-wrote Emma Peel, Heartbroken Man and many of their other notable songs. He has also written for the Brandos out of New York, providing lyrics for Gettysburg, Nothing to Fear, and Honor Among Thieves.
As a solo artist, Carl has released two CD's, True Joy and the well-received Heart of a Siren. For the last ten years Carl has been part of the acoustic duo Funk Mason, which reunites him with old Allies and Brandos band member Larry Mason. Together they released Resurrection, and most recently In an Instant, which showcases Funk's original songwriting and the duo's signature harmonies. Funk Mason keeps up a steady schedule of performances in the Pacific Northwest.
Pharoah's Army was co-written with Mark Funk, who wrote the lyric. It has some nice performances from Dave Keenan, Dave Kincaid, Chris Leighton and Garey Shelton. It also has the distinction of being the first song ever recorded at Garey Shelton's studio.
I once saw Rod Stewart do an "acoustic" show and he said "This is where you separate the men from the boys." He had about 20 people onstage backing him up. I had to laugh. The video below shows what separates the men from the boys---
Hi Carl, oh yes, it's always a treat to see Ken Branagh live on stage! And we had front row seats, too. Awesome. Hope you're doing fine. Greetz from a rainy Germany Nadine
I have a feeling there's one more star up in the sky tonight and even though it's far away may it's brightness and warmth still reach you to make the night a little less dark. With my deepest heartfelt sympathy... xo ~ Blythe
It is a good and safe rule to sojourn in every place, as if you had meant to spend your life there never omitting an opportunity of doing kindness, or speaking a true word, or making a friend.- Ruskin
