Influences
Five musical milestones: Van Halen, Blink182, Slayer, Pat Metheny Group, Michael Brecker
Born and raised in Halland in the south of Sweden. Started his musical journey in rock and metal when he received his first electric guitar at 7 years of age. Played in several different bands in those genres until discovering jazz in high school, while he attented a music-oriented program at Sturegymnasiet in Halmstad. Jazzstudies followed at Sundsgården in Helsingborg and at Fridhem in Svalöv. He then was accepted to the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark where he currently resides and studies on the second year. Carl won the Swedish Youth Jazz competition in 2004 with CMJ Quartet which meant going to Los Angeles and playing at the IAJE conference. He also won the composition-prize together with the band's piano player, Magnus Hjorth.
Carl has played many concerts around Europe, with dreamFlow, CMJ Quartet, Spukah Guma, Malene Mortensen, Re:Fraction, for example in The Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Russia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and The United States.
