Jazz guitarist and composer, Carlos Jiménez is a very active musician in the Montreal jazz scene. In the past few years, he has played with some of the most expressive names of Canadian jazz, such as Kevin Dean, Andre White, Frank Lozano, Fraser Hollins, Joel Miller, and Don Thompson. He has also performed with notable ensembles such as the Joe Sullivan Big Band, the Brian Hurley Quartet, and the Daniel Lessard Trio. He was featured on CBC programs such as Jazz Beat with the Brian Hurley Quartet and Canada Live with the Joe Sullivan Big Band. Also, he has collaborated to the soundtrack of the Oscar winning short movie The Danish Poet, produced by the National Film Board of Canada. Carlos Jiménez holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from McGill University. Recently, he has received a studying grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to study with American guitarist Adam Rogers, in New York. Carlos currently teaches jazz theory and jazz combos at the McGill Conservatory.///////////////////////////////Guitariste de jazz et compositeur, Carlos Jiménez est un musicien très actif dans le milieu du jazz montréalais. On a pu aussi l’entendre au sein d’ensembles établis, comme le Joe Sullivan Big Band, le Brian Hurley Quartet et le Trio Daniel Lessard. Il a également collaboré à plusieurs enregistrements pour des émissions produites par la CBC, notamment Jazz Beat avec le Brian Hurley Quartet et Canada Live avec le Joe Sullivan Big Band. Il a aussi participé à la bande sonore du court métrage primé aux oscars The Danish Poet, produit par l’Office national du film du Canada. Carlos Jiménez est titulaire d’une maîtrise et d’un baccalauréat en interprétation jazz de l’Université McGill. Récemment il a reçu une bourse de perfectionnement du Conseil des Arts du Canada pour étudier avec le guitariste new-yorkais Adam Rogers. Carlos est actuellement professeur de combos et de théorie jazz au conservatoire de l’Université McGill.
