Carly Goodwin's debut album showcase a serious talent with enough vocal chops to entice a duet with Willie Nelson on the latter's classic “Crazy.” Carl Jackson's production brings insistent percussive and acoustic elements to such spritely and cuts as “Just Another Mountain” and the hopeful “New Night Dawning.”
At 23, Goodwin's voice owns impressive range and personality on up-tempo cuts like “Destination Heartache” and endearing tone and tremolo on such midtempos as the easy-rollin' “High on a Mountain.” Elsewhere, “Until Then” and “Still Too Blue” are stone-country ballads in a Patty Loveless style. Likewise, the piano-based “Homecoming Day” is a gorgeous torch song and “Baby Come Back Home” is a passionately rendered, if somewhat clichéd, tearjerker ballad about a soldier's wife that could have huge appeal these holidays. It is late in Nashville. The heat seeps through the cracks in the house and I'm already remembering why I try and escape in August. Yet, there is something incredibly special and sultry about the South. I, having been raised in just about every place but the south (NY, CA, UT, MT, MI, CO, etc) didn't expect to find myself so at home here- but perhaps this is the place I have been looking for all along. Right now the gardens are brimming with life, and people are out enjoying themselves. As much as I have traveled- Southerners are still some of the kindest people in the world.
We have been traveling on the road more this year than ever before- from continent to continent we skip, trying to stay in the correct time zone once we arrive there so we can at least sleep when we are supposed to. Still, I am loving it, and feel alive and well.

Josh won a Grammy For BEST COUNTRY SONG FOR 2007! What a night- it was amazing. Life is so great... we sat 2nd row behind Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin- in front of Ringo. I felt like I was in a dream....

In just 2 days we will be in LA for the highly anticipated Grammy Awards. Josh and his co-writer, Chris Tompkins are nominated for "Song of the Year" and "Country Song of the Year" for writing "Before He Cheats". It has been an amazing ride, to say the least. The song was just certified as the first country song ever to sell over 2 million downloads! Keep your fingers and toes crossed and hopefully we'll have some great news to share in a few days! We are so grateful and feel so incredibly blessed.

You’ve probably heard of Carly Goodwin’s debut album, produced by Grammy-Award winning producer Carl Jackson. Maybe you’ve heard of her duet with Willie Nelson on his classic “Crazy”. Maybe you know Carly from her work with the US Troops throughout the world and “The World’s Longest Letter to Our Troops” which she created and hand delivered to Iraq. You love her music- now love her art.
Since Recording Artist Carly Goodwin was a small child- she loved two things, to sing and paint. As she grew up and pursued music as a professional career, the other artist within her, the one who worked with paint- longed to get out. As Carly’s musical career took off, and she began touring worldwide and making records- she would come home and paint to reduce stress and express herself differently than she did out on the road.
Carly’s paintings became prized possessions among friends, family, and fans alike. She painted for charity auctions, and gifted paintings to those close to her. As word spread about her painting, she was urged by those around her to share her work with the greater public.
All pieces are original works of art created by Carly Goodwin. When asked why she paints, Carly said- “To me, painting is a great way to express myself. It helps release things deep within me. I love creating things that inspire people and open their minds to the vast possibilities in this world.”

Two Nashville songbirds mix love and music in an intimate family wedding on the beach. You're Invited! Rising Country Music Star Carly Goodwin, 25, and songwriter Josh Kear, 32, weren't looking for a flashy Nashville wedding. In fact, they chose the Dominican Republic because Carly has fallen in love with the island's down-to-earth flavor during a family vacation.
Not surprisingly, thier weeklong November celebration was filled with what the couple does best: music. The 45 guests were welcomed with a night of performances, during which the twosome serenaded each other with songs they had written for the occasion. Josh's father, an artist and musician, sang, too and presented the couple with a guitar that he'd painted with a Caribbean scene. The next day, Carly and Josh brought music into the wedding itself by asking their guests to shake maracas every time the word "love" was uttered during the ceremony, which took place under a canopy and included handwritten vows as well as a mix of rituals from around the world. The last personal touch? A playlist that skipped the singers' own tunes in favor of dance hits- from "Hey Ya" to "The Hokey Pokey"- that got everyone on the sandy dance floor until the downhome duo moseyed back to their suite.- Leigh Newman

Speaking of Carly Goodwin, congratulations are in order: she and Nashville songwriter Josh Kear were married in the Dominican Republic Nov. 11. The couple exchanged vows in the company of close friends and family in a ceremony that embraced traditions from around the globe, while celebrating the diversity and continuity of love and life. Carly and Josh met in 2003 at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Café. He’s a hit songwriter with cuts by Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Lynyrd Skynrd, Jimmy Buffett and Hank Williams Jr. – and his latest smash is Carrie Underwood’s No.1 “Before He Cheats”.
