Merry Christmas a little early, (for me anyway!) and here's why!
I just got my "Carly Simon Heirloom Box" and with trembling (from the excitement of it all!) hands I opened it so I could reveal the treasures inside. This was a Christmas gift from my wife and kids but they knew I couldn't wait for Christmas morning to open it!
Carly, the hand-crafted box is so beautiful and every piece inside is simply wonderful! My family has bought me many gifts over the years, some very pricey, at least for us, but NONE, EVER, that made my heart skip a beat like this one.
When I opened my "personal item" selected by you for "le morceau de résistance" of this magnificent heirloom box, I was literally brought to tears by the item you selected. Seeing your thoughts brought to life, hand-written on a sheet of stationary you must have picked up in your travels, with notes for changes to the lyrics added later, (I am not going to reveal here what song you choose to send me, as I’d rather keep some mystery going for your fans who haven’t gotten their Heirloom Box yet), was so deeply personal and so revealing of just how your creativity flows, I feel like you shared a special secret with me! (And no, Carly Fans who are reading this, it isn’t “You’re So Vain”!)
I think I’ll have that personalized piece professionally framed, as I am sure time will eventually take its toll if I don’t, but the rest of the contents will stay just as you sent them. (Of course, I’ve already been enjoying the new CD and DVD prior to the arrival of the box anyway….in fact, I have a copy of “Never Been Gone” in every one of our vehicles!)
