I LOVE MUSIC! I especially love music with a purpose...passionate, strong and soulful music. I love old music that touches you to the core. I love hip hop, especially artists who are aware of the reality that exists outside of the glitz and the glam. I love "underground" artists that speak about so much more than bitches and bling. I love Reggae, R&B, calypso, reggaeton...and so much more. My favorite artist...without a doubt MOS DEF!!!

I am a writer, a poet, a spoken word artist and an activist for human rights and social change. Born in the Virgin Islands, with roots in the Caribbean and branches throughout the United States, I have a unique view of the world from various cultural perspectives and am able to identify with a variety of groups. I have found a voice through writing and hope to reach and inspire others with my deeply passionate yet completely relevant work. Represented by the stage name Island Girl, or Island Girl the Poet, I’ve graced the stages of several great venues throughout the Bay Area, the East Coast and the Caribbean. Performing at open mic venues, invitation only events and slam contests, I’ve had the opportunity to perform with other amazing individuals and continue to perfect my style…my talent…my passion.
