General speculation, lazy days filled with writing, reading under soft covers, refurbishing old furniture while avoiding toxic fumes, daydreaming and more daydreaming, indie films.
Music
Just about everything. I really like music that is eclectic and raw. SoKo is a myspace find that I'll treasure for a long while. If you have any cool music suggestions, please send me a myspace message. I'm always looking for new profile songs.
Movies
Oooh, my fav's are Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version, of course); Bridget Jones's Diary for when I'm depressed; Four Weddings and a Funeral for an early 90s kick. I've also taken a liking to Lonesome Jim; Little Manhattan; Shaun of the Dead; and Quinceniera.
Television
I'm addicted to 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Samantha Who, and, of course, The Office. I will always love Gilmore Girls. If you want to know what I am looking forward to seeing next, it's season 3 of Big Love.
Books
HA! Anything and everything!!! Recent loves are Blankets by Craig Thompson; Feed by M.T. Anderson; and The Epicure's Lament by Kate Christensen. All-time favorites go to My Sweet Audrina by the original V.C. Andrews (R.I.P.); The Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti; While I Was Gone by Sue Miller; Pink Slip by Rita Ciresi; AND everything that Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte ever wrote. Those two ladies were (and are) unbeatable.
Heroes
Aw, anyone who tries hard to be a good person and then even harder to make the world a better place. Oh, and my cat, Judy. It's not easy being a cat, just ask Judes.
About me: I'm Carmen Rodrigues. I write teen novels.
First, a photo of me looking very writerly:
Then, a quick FYI about me:
1. I love to putter, which means on most days I wander purposefully around my house working on a thousand projects at once, never quite finishing any of them, but always making a good amount of progress.
2. I live and breathe creativity. Give me junk, and I'll try to make it pretty. Thinking of throwing away that old, chipped glass jar? Uh-uh, I'll stuff seashells in it and call it art.
3. I laugh constantly and pretty distinctively. If my laughter were a shape, it would be like one of those cartoon bubbles -- small at first but full and round in the middle.
4.I worry sporadically, which is code for nearly constantly. I have a writer's imagination, so sometimes my imagination takes over and produces volumes of concern. Still, I always find a way to turn worry into writing.
5. I bond irreversibly. I've had a lot of the same friends since I was ten, including the one who told me that I should buy my very first bra! Of course, I've picked up many new ones along the way. I just don't like to lose friends. Does anyone?
6. I tell stories with sincerity. I want my characters to feel real. I want you to read my novels and feel like you could possibly be the girl in the story. I want my characters to make real choices, even if they are the wrong choices.
7. I'm the writer of the just released teen novel Not Anything from Berkley Jam.
8. If you don't know, the name Carmen is derived from Latin and means 'a song'. Cool, right?
9. And, finally, a photo of my novel:
Who I'd like to meet: Okay, here's the wish list on who I'd like to meet:
1. Judy Blume: She's the godmother of teen lit, if you ask me.
2. Sarah Dessen: Teen lit's reigning queen. (Again, just my humble opinion.)
3. The ghost of Zora Neale Hurston: If you haven't read Their Eyes Were Watching God, get off my myspace page and go directly to your library to pick up a copy!
4. Oprah: I want to meet her on the day of her holiday special. Can you imagine all the goodies you'd get to take home?
5. Sue Miller because her novels can make me cry.
6. Deb Caletti because her novels can make me stay up all night.
7. John Green because I want to know how so much genius fits into such a thin frame, plus I dig the glasses.
8. You.
9. Oh, and anyone else who lives and breathes teen lit!

Thank you for the friendship. As you can see, I am a writer promoting my work on myspace. I have a fiction blog where I post short stories as a way of staying in touch with fans and to give potential new readers a chance to gauge my work. It would be very cool if you'd check it out.
Thank you for the add and for your support in this vital cause to increase the effort to EDUCATE our youth of the dangers of drugs and violence. Our future generation depends on the youth of today. Alcohol and Drugs are plaguing our society and we need to attack it head on where it is digging its roots; with our youth in our schools. Knowledge and Truth are the key to help them stay clean. They deserve the TRUTH about all of the drugs they will incounter. They are simply too smart to accept the old 'Just Say NO' adage. Todays teens want to KNOW for themselves, and a rebellious society we have created. They will seek the truth themselves and we must educate them with it. Can you handle the truth? That's what they respect. That's what they deserve! A NEW D.A.R.E. REQUIRES A NEW APPROACH Please help spread the word and tell your friends about D.A.R.E. Feel free to visit D.A.R.E. online at www. dare. com to show your support and/or shop for official D.A.R.E. merchandise. Peace :-)
