"It's hard not to like Carmen Lee and the Tomorrow River Two. The rock-a-billy-country-blues singer has been writing music since she was four years old, and never stopped since. Armed with a guitar player and an upright bassist, Carmen looks the part as she delivers tunes influenced by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan and Neil Young, not to mention the King himself, Elvis Presley. Carmen Lee is starting to become a force in the scene, so look for her original style to start popping up more and more. Her soulful crooning is sure to hit you right in the gut, if not in the heart."

ALBUM REVIEWS:
"Carmen Lee hails from Amherst, Wisconsin and still lives in that state, far away from the big towns and country pop. It was the purchase of Elvis' Christmas album at age 12 that led her towards country and rock'n'roll. After singing in various groups, she formed a trio 'Carmen Lee and The Tomorrow River Two', a right formula for both her favourite musical genres. But here, she sings solo, just with her piano, which gives a stripped down style to her 12 original songs. A lot of ballads, with often a pristine vocal, like on 'Lonely Bird', 'Falling' or 'Don't Fall for the Desperado'; a somewhat gospel mood on 'Labors of Love' ; a hillbilly bop tempo on 'Baby Steps' ; and my three favourites, the waltz 'When You're Gone', the light rock'n'roll 'Jukebox Baby' and the superb teen ballad 'Tomorrow River' which is about the river that runs near her home' ~ Bernard Boyat: French music magazines (Country Music Attitude and Le Cri Du Coyote )------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"A talented singer, good lyrics, and memorable melodies, the influence of country and rockabilly, -- that's Carmen Lee. Her dusky voices captures many moods and you'll want to listen to them all. There's the upbeat "Big Star" and "Jukebox Baby". "Bittersweet Dream" and "Baby Steps" are reminiscent of Patsy Cline. "When You're Gone" and "Don't Fall for the Desperado" have that lonesome country feeling. But my favorite is the "The Butcher" -- it's dark, sad, and totally original. Reminds me of one of the characters from Studs Terkel's book "Working" -- with the addition of a honky-tonk piano. You can't go wrong with this cd! ~Elaine Dowling (purchased Carmen Lee 'Solo' through CDBaby.com)---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
