Esthero, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Cirque du Soleil, KD Lang, and Pete Townshend of The Who.
Also known as a recording artist releasing two Electronic driven albums “The Lost Art Of The Idle Moment” (Lab/Universal) 2005 which debuted No. 2 on KCRW’s Album Chart and peaking at No. 2 on XM’s Café Chart as well as USA Today’s No. 1 pick for The Life Section fall music guide. The album featured guest vocalist Esthero, Jem, Grant Lee Phillips, Ladybug Mecca and Kate Havnevick. The second release “Ornament Of An Impostor” (Electrofone Music) 2008 featuring again Jem and Kate Havnevik, again spinning heavily at tastemaker KCRW (42 of there top most played albums of 2008), and with the support of iTunes, featuring the album on its home page & being licensed to the Buddha Bar compilations as well as countless TV placements. The follow up Remixed EP featuring remixes from Charlie Cooper of Telefone Tel Aviv, Morgan Page, Jason Bentley Andy Gray, Supreme Being of Leisure and Carmen himself.
Carmen also co-founded the highly influential group Niyaz (Six Degrees) with Azam Ali & Loga Ramin Torkian. “...A world beat/electronic fusion, blending Indian & Persian exoticism and beats that are state of the art...” writes Billboard Magazine. The albums released in 2005 “Niyaz”& “Nine Heavens” 2008 both debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes world music chart and has also been featured on NPR’s “Day to Day”, PRI & Voice of America. The band has toured the entire world, headlining in 10 countries including India, Japan, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, and USA and throughout Europe.
Carmen’s new side project Lal Meri (Six Degrees) (2009) with Nancy (Rosey) Kaye & Ireesh Lal & Pooja Lal. Goes between electronic rhythms,
indian textures to exotic strings. Were featured on “NPR’s “All things considered” and peaked at 2 itunes electronic chart, 40 itunes pop char& 1 Amazon movers & shakers chart.
As a composer, Carmen recently did the score of two films from acclaimed British director Michael Apted of the film “Power of the Game" (Pathe) and a short film “Party guest”, as well scored the music for the forthcoming Sony video game “The Agency” with Gerard Marino.
