Carnivores of War are an independant hiphop act from South Wales in the United Kingdom. The group consists of 3 members: The Archer MC (Emcee/Producer), Leviathan (Emcee) DJ Step (DJ).
In 2000, with all members being friends with the then unsigned Lostprophets, Step was the original scratch DJ on 'Fake Sound Of Progress Album' as DJ Stepzak, but chose not to fully committ to the band, wanting to continue with VoodooBionic. The Archer MC(then:Mic Justice) joined metal outfit 'Indifference' and Step took a back seat from music to concentrate on his career.
Six years later, mid 2006, The Archer MC, having earlier that year left Indifference, and Step decided to reform. Now, Step has returned to the music that pulled him in at the very beginning (Drum and bass), and has teamed up with The Archer MC and Leviathan on the live circuit as producer/scratch DJ for hip hop outfit 'Carnivores Of War'
Carnivores of War came together over a year ago due to the lack of hardcore hiphop in the South Wales scene. Due to the overkill of metal bands most hiphop acts have become non existant, though the Carnivores felt they have a vital part to play amongst a rapid growing and exciting musical scene within South Wales.
Their first release will be a five track ep titled Run For Your Lives. From the first track to the last the lyrics and production set a hardcore and violent tone creating a new sound dubbed "Terrorcore".
Since the start of Carnivores of War, the group has managed radio play within the UK on the Adam Walton show on Radio Wales, thanks to Marcus Warner at Engineering Consent PR. The group has also gained radio play across the atlantic, in the USA via New Jersey Radio Programe Spit Your Best Verse. The Archer MC and Leviathan have also been featured Artists on the radios website, www.spityourbestverse.com. Just ecently the Archer MC had an interview with NJ legend Reef Ali, mixing it with the big names of the underground scene.
The Archer MC, Leviathan and DJ Step are also currently working on solo projects as we speak. The Archer is putting together his solo album tentatively titled: The Good The Bad The Archer MC, while also producing Leviathan's first solo release.
