About me:
Carol and John's Comic Shop
17448 Lorain Avenue
(Kamm's Plaza)
Cleveland, OH 44111
In business for over 17 years, Carol and John's Comic Shop is Northeast Ohio's #1 Comic Book Shop. Easy to say, hard to do. The dream of a mother and son team that has grown beyond our wildest dreams. (3,600 square feet to be exact.) But it's the crew that makes the ship, and we pride ourselves in having a knowledgable staff that's willing to go out of their way to help you find the story or item your looking for. Why? Because we really like what we do.
Who I'd like to meet:
Carol and John's will be a hosting site for the 2008 24 Hour Comics Day event from noon October 18 until noon October 19. If you are willing to take on the challenge, then here are the rules:
1. The event is from NOON to NOON. If you finish early, you can leave. If you need a nap or a break there will be a lounge area in the store.
2. We understand that things happen and 24 hours can be a long time, if you need to leave for any reason we are imposing a 30 minute limit.
3. You WRITE and DRAW your own book. 24 pages. 24 hours. Follow this rule and your book will be submitted to Scott McCloud and the OSU Comic Book Library.
4. Friends and guests can sit with you during store hours, until 7 on Saturday
5. Participants will get 25% off any independent back issues, hardcovers, trade paperbacks (this means anything that's not DC or Marvel)
6. FOOD -- We will supply a free pizza dinner around 8 and free coffee/energy drinks all night. Chips and sodas will be available at a minimal cost to you. Otherwise, you are welcome to bring your own snacks, but please keep in mind we have limited fridge space.
7. No drugs. No Achohol.
8. Bring whatever supplies you think you need, we'll have some in case of emergency.
9. Throughout the event, we will be posting your progress on a blog. We will provide the web address to this blog when it is available.
10. These are our rules, which we WILL enforce. John Dudas is our social mediator, and all disputes or problems will go though him. He'll be here coffee'd up the whole time, so behave!
For a complete list of rules and info about the event come in, call us or visit www.24hourcomicsday.com
Most importantly: Have Fun! This is about you, the Cleveland area artists and writers. Come in and meet new friends while enjoying your craft/hobby.
