Carol Burge, Historical Western Romance Author's Interests
General
You Should Be a Romance Novelist
You see the world as it should be, and this goes double for all matters of the heart.
You can find the romance in any situation, and you would make a talented romance story writer...
And while you may be a traditional romantic, you're just as likely to be drawn to quirky or dark love stories.
As long as it deals with infatuation, heartbreak, and soulmates - you could write it.
You are an incredibly creative person. For you, there are no bounds or limits to your creativity.
Your next creation could be something very great... Or at least very cool!
You have a strong need to belong, and you very loyal.
A good listener, you excel at helping others in practical ways.
In your spare time, you enjoy engaging your senses through art, cooking, and music.
You find it easy to be devoted to one person... a partner who you do special things for.
In love, you express your emotions through actions.
Taking care of someone is how you love them. And you do it well!
At work, you do well in a structured environment. You complete tasks well and on time.
You would make a good interior designer, chef, or child psychologist.
How you see yourself: Competent, dependable, and detail oriented
When other people don't get you, they see you as: Boring, dominant, and stuck in a rut
I like Country, Rock (especially the 60's & 70's), of course the old Motown from back in the day. I wouldn't be a true Detroit Diva if I didn't!
I like the Blues, reggae and I've just recently begun to get into New Wave. Really, I like just about everything, except Hip Hop.
My favorite country music is from the 70's. Singers such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams Jr. and David Allen Coe are, in my opinion, THE originals.
I just can't seem to get into the new country music. I like some of the songs but it seems like there's just sooo many new singers, you can't keep track of them all.
Movies
I love all Clint Eastwood westerns, but my favorites are THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES and TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA. Good research material, too. :)
My #1 all time favorite western movie is LONESOME DOVE, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. I also read the book, which is written by Larry McMurty. I love all of his books/movies.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is another good movie. I just ordered the cd. and I'm looking forward to watching it.
THE NOTEBOOK and DIRTY DANCING.
LEGENDS OF THE FALL starring Bradd Pitt.
Oh yeah, how could I forget Mel Gibson in BRAVEHEART?
Television
Although I don't watch much "regular" TV, I do like to watch the Judge shows, such as Judge Judy and Divorce Court. lol Don't know why, but I do.
AMERICAN IDOL is another favorite. Although I haven't kept up with it much this year.
I love just about all HBO series. Deadwood and the Sopranos, I loved Sex and the city (really hated to see that show go), enjoyed Rome...they're all great. Big Love is okay...it took me a while to get into it, though. Oh yeah, Carnivale...that was a really good one.
Books
My Historical Western Romance, Dangerous Desires!
Dangerous Desires is due to be released sometime in 2009
I wanted to include a little info about my father, who was a professional pool player. He was very well known in Detroit and the Billiards industry, and was known as CORNBREAD RED.
Cornbread Red was often featured in the Detroit News and other periodicals, as well as quite a few books, and his biography was published back in the 1990's. Below is the book cover.
I'm sorry to say that Dad passed away in February of 2004

Below is a video collage tribute to a group of well-known professional pool players. Dad is featured quite a bit. The very last two photos at the end are of him and are my favorites.

About me:
Coming Soon
From Lyrical Press!

I have many interests, but my first and foremost interest is spending time with my family. In addition to my husband of 24 years, I have three sisters, of which I’m the oldest. I'm a mother of 3 grown children, six step children, five grandchildren and LOTS of step grandchildren. I live just outside of Detroit, Michigan, where I was born and have lived most of my life. In addition to my regular day job, I'm a soon to be published Historical Western Romance Author.
I'm interested in Tarot and just about all aspects of the paranormal. I have a deck of Tarot cards and a guide that I've been reading and studying the past few months. I'm a huge Sylvia Brown fan and I have lots of her books. I try and make sure I catch her every Wednesday morning on the Montel Williams Show.
I've always been curious about Yoga and Meditation and have wanted to try them. I have a few books and CD's on these subjects, but as of yet I haven't tried them. I suppose when the time is right, I will.
I like creating computer graphics and backgrounds. I have PSP7 and have took some online classes to learn how to use the program. I've attempted to make some romance writers background sets and created a website with free downloads, but the site and the sets are outdated and I haven't had time to do much of anything to them.
Lately I've been dabbling in genealogy and have been researching my family tree. I think everybody should do this. Family is important, and everyone should know their family background. I've had a blast doing this and found some interesting things on my father's side and met a couple of distant relatives from my research. You'd be surprised at what you find.
I like to read and I'm all over the place in regards to genre, however, romance is my favorite. I've been reading romance novels since I was a teenager. I started out reading authors like Rosemary Rogers and Kathleen Woodiwess back in the 70's and have been hooked ever since.
I love history, I like learning new things and I love a challenge. I enjoy all these things and more, however, my number one passion is writing.
About six years ago, I decided to try my hand at writing and I began plotting my first romance novel. However, I soon realized I didn't have a clue to what I was doing. I joined numerous online writers groups, critique groups, I took writing classes and joined RWA.
My favorite time period is the 1800's old west and Mexico, so naturally, that's where and when my novel, Dangerous Desires takes place. I 2003 I entered my very first RWA sponsored contest and was thrilled when Dangerous Desires placed 4th in the historical category of the Utah Chapter Great Beginnings Contest.
This Spring, after years of learning and writing, all my hard work payed off. Dangerous Desires was recently accepted for publication by Lyrical Press, Inc. and is due to be released in ebook and print soon!
