"Where there is something that needs to be said, indifference to literary form always indicates dogmatization of content." -- Theodor Adorno
"We start out by feeling the music internally, expressing it somehow externally before we choose to put it into the instrument, and then, hopefully, it's an extension of us into the instrument. We are the instrument. The other...the actual instrument is just an amplification of what we're hearing." -- Lee Konitz
What up?! Sorry I've been outta the loop, but I've been a work horse lately. I finally got my website up. Let me know what you think: www.nomadicjfilms.com. Peace
well, I am pretty fond of my accordion/12 string guitar duo band called "Protractor". I had a grunge string quartet called, "Step 4: Insert Face" but we split up. Artistic Differences. Last year I was playing with a 10-piece liturgical music ensemble called "Venereal Pudding." "Gortex" is a sort of all-weather group where everyone plays whatever instruments happen to be at the venue. The David Berkman trio has recently changed it's name to "David Berkman: trio!" but we reserve the right to change our punctuation again in the future if we wish. ("David...Berkman?
Coming through town again with NY Standards Quartet (Tim Armacost, Gene Jackson, Larry Kohut) in October--9 and 10 at Green Mill--Hope you and James are around...By the way, I am impressed with the number and quality of band names you come up with. I need you to punch up some of mine. "The David Berkman trio", and "The David Berkman Quartet" aren't exactly dripping with mystery. I was considering "Phlegm Pot" for my next group but I haven't decided what that should sound like. I want to do some solo touring and was trying to think of a catchy title for that, but unfortunately dissension in the band has kept us from working for a while. (The pianist is kind of an egomaniac.)
