Bio
Caroline Gilmour is a singer and songwriter based in Edinburgh, Scotland who is quickly gaining national and international attention. She was front woman of local Edinburgh rock band The Meadows until 2006. When the band split up Caroline continued to focus on writing material and experimented with different sounds. She provided vocal samples for Camel Audio's highly successful Alchemy sample manipulation synth. Caroline officially started her solo career in March 2008 and since then has played many gigs at music venues all over Scotland including supporting top Scottish band The Hussys. She recorded her first solo album, 'Someday' at a local recording studio in 2009. Caroline made her Edinburgh Festival debut in August 2009 performing tracks from her debut album. This was followed by a recording session with top Glasgow producer Jamie Duffin (who is also working with former UK X factor winner Leon Jackson) to experiment with a new sound. She was also featured on top lesbian pop culture website Afterellen.com. 2010 was a quiet year for Caroline due to recording but she still managed to fit in a number of gigs, most notably the new ladies weekend music festival event in the UK called GOGO. Caroline has now completed a full 12 track album with Jamie and final mastering is to be completed by Wet Wet Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin (Jamie's father). The album will be released in June 2011 and is called Take A Look. 2011 will be a busy year for Caroline promoting her new album and playing 10 shows at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A number of local radio stations are now playing her music and she has been featured in DIVA magazine - Europe's biggest selling Lesbian magazine. Caroline was awarded a runner up status in the We Are Listening songwriting contest and is actively seeking a licensing or recording deal. -
