I was born on the 5th of March, 1973 in Saint-Malo, North coast of Brittany.
My father has been teaching me Painting since I was 5 and I raised between industrial surroundings, beats of the commercial port and the mighty power of a strong littoral.
I have always been painting since then, lonesome and inspired by these areas, by my deep love of Brittany and its legend, by my Ocean ties sealed by race …
I am still living and working in Saint-Malo today.
Talking about my Art work is evocating my large formats paintings, my fractal constructions and interconnected universes. I must confess my violent gesture which is tempered by the transparency of my glazes and tell you my passion for colour perceived as an emotional charge, my conscientious work of pigments and my huge respect of ancestral techniques. I am also deeply in love with Art edition and engraving.
In parallel to my traditional work in the atelier, I lead an experimental and technological research about interactivity in Art. By my association ART LIVE®, I developed the digital project MIND ART® which blends live events and web innovations.
Artists are guides and Painting is a catalyst. Art works are created for the lovers and belongs to them. The aim of MIND ART® is to strengthen exchange between artists and enthusiasts, to upset common concept of paternity in Art and to baffle contemporary sense of interpretation.
My art becomes yours! Use, perform and appropriate it.
I dedicate all my artwork and Mind Art to my father and mentor, Jacques Maby.
Caroline Maby est née le 5 mars 1973, à Saint-Malo, côte nord Bretagne.
Ele évolue entre une ambiance industrielle, les battements du port de commerce et les forces d’un littoral puissant.
Solitaire, elle peint depuis son enfance, inspirée par son amour de la Bretagne mystique et de sa légende, par sa fascination pour l’Ordre minéral, végétal et marin régents ici.
La pêche en haute mer, la course au large, la cité d'Ys, la spiritualité, l'Eau et les paysages du Nord sont des thèmes récurrents dans son travail.
Vous parler de sa peinture, c’est évoquer ses grands formats et ses constructions fractales, à niveaux de lecture interpénétrés, c’est vous parler de sa passion pour la couleur appréhendée comme charge émotionnelle, de son travail consciencieux des pigments et de son respect des techniques ancestrales.
Bazaine, Mitchell, Bonnard, Twombly, les Primitifs Flamands, Le Moal, Villon, da Silva, de Staël, Manessier comptent parmi ses maîtres.
Peindre répond surtout à son envie de partage et de don.
Elle rêve d’être un passeur qui faciliterait la création, catalyserait l’émotion et solliciterait l’introspection.
L'interactivité en est une voie d'accès.
C'est pourquoi, en parallèle de son travail d'atelier, elle mène une action de recherche expérimentale et technologique sur l'interactivité en Art.
Au sein de son association Art Live®, elle a développé le projet numérique Mind Art® qui s'exprime sous forme d'évênements Live et d'innovations Web.
Mind Art® est une expérience interactive qui permet aux amateurs d'art d'interpréter ses tableaux de manière intuitive et instantanée, en fonction de leur sensibilité propre.
Caroline aspire aujourd’hui à utiliser l’installation comme un outil de création collective dans les milieux en difficulté et notamment en hôpital psychiatrique où elle intervient en tant qu’artiste.
