Hi:) I'm Carrie Olson. The person who will be behind the camera:) I started photography about a year ago. I've always loved anything to do with the arts & when my son was born, of course like every other new mother, I had to take as many photos of him as I possibly could. Than I started playing around with the camera more taking pictures of myself (those are pretty funny) and any pretty flower or tree I came across. I realized more and more that it was something I really enjoyed doing, and that hey, I wasn't that bad. So I decided to take it a little more seriously and see where it would take me. I ended up getting into contact with Erica Manthey and set up an internship with her husband Ryan in the summer of 2008. I learned so much about lighting and composition, and he was the one who introuduced me to adobe lightroom, so mad props to Ryan for that one:) At the time there was another intern working with Pure7Studios by the name of Amy. She has helped me out more than she probably even knows. Besides just becoming my photographer buddy, she has given me a lot of advice on post work and even the business side of things, and she filled me in on the awesomeness (yes I know it's not a word) of Totally Rad Actions. If you are a photographer you gotta check them out! That alone has completely changed the way I use photoshop. So props to Amy for that:) and she did a Boudior shoot for me and made me look like a sexy rockstar so I gotta love her for that! Then this year I've had the pleasure of working with Heather of Diva Productions as a second shooter for her at weddings. She is laid back and ready to give me all the advice she can. And I got mad props for her too yo' because she told me about Alien Skin! The Bokeh tool is AMAZING. (if you didn't catch it yet with me giving all my mad props, I'm a pretty big dork and like to keep things light- hearted) But the major point here is that I'm very lucky that in under a year I've been blessed to work under such talented people and I am truly honored. My work wouldn't be were it is today if it wasn't for them. So if any of you are reading this, THANK YOU:)
I continue to look for new ideas and new tricks on my own. Everyday is a new learning experience because I am contstantly learning things about my camera & new techniques to try on photoshop. Honestly, I don't think you ever stop learning because the world of photography is always changing and progressing. It's a great thing to do for a living or hobby and just to be a part of. I feel so blessed to have met the people I have, & I look foward to meeting more in the future:) I love to talk to other photographers so feel free to drop me a line if you'd like to chat.
There is one very important thing I want people to understand about me as a photographer & it's probably going to come off rude, but I don't want it to. It's just that I'm not doing this to please you. I know I probably shouldn't say that because I guess it's not a good way to "advertise." But I just have to be honest. I'm doing this because of the feeling I get deep down inside. I like the way light reflects off a child's smile, when I look at pretty clouds in the sky I know God must be real. I like seeing people in love, whether it be man and wife or parent and child or people who've just met:) I like taking a piece of what makes the world go round home with me and making it a piece of me. It's an amazing feeling that I can't put into words. I'm so thankful that I ended up on this journey and I can't wait to be a part of more wonderful moments down the road.
I think everyone has different tastes, and what I see as beautiful some might not. So PLEASE look at my work and what my vision is before you decide if I'm the photographer for you. If you like what you see contact me and we can discuss ideas and possibilities for your session. I'm very open-minded and up for trying anything. I shoot with a canon rebel and though I do have a shoe-mount flash I prefer shooting using only natural light if possible. I do not have a studio, so all my sessions are done on location. which you can choose or I can give you some ideas if you aren't sure. During the shoots I like to go with the flow and just get people to feel as comfortable & at home as I can. They usually last between 2 or 3 hours depending on how many people and the type of session it is. After your session is over the real fun begins for me! That's when I get to spend hours in photoshop making your photos come to life. I do use a lot of textures and actions and I would definitely say my photography is more on the artistic style as opposed to the traditional or studio style. If you have any questions I would love to hear from you! please contact me at 321-799-3524 for more info. [thank u for being here] Carrie♥

Carrie, congrats on your new gigg! I've been following your work for a while now and I'm truly happy for the success you've had. (sigh) What fearlessness and passion have done for you is just beautiful to see.
That shot just happened. It's absolutely unedited save the crop. I can't wait until my technology is back up to snuff. This bs is driving me nuts. Killer new desktop on the way and the fan for the Vaio will be in tomorrow. Whew. Then I get get to some real editing.
Big love, Carrie. Big love.
p.s. the bride has offered to put the dress back on and head to the beach to satisfy my artistic need. pretty awesome news, that . . .screw the groom anyway.
I just read your blog about moving...how's it going for you? I'm ready to move full-time to PCB from Georgia, but it's such a big step to move from an established clientele... good luck to you!
I got thru all the formals in thirty minutes. The beach was three steps down from the lawn. It wouldn't have taken more than ten minutes to get what I wanted. I was heated.
The kicker is, the photography is our gift to the bride and groom. (though trust me, they could have afforded me). So, it was most dissappointing to have the groom say "absolutely not" to heading down onto the beach. I was stunned he wasn't going to give me the shots I wanted for my portfolio.
The bride had her maids cutting flowers in all the gardens, making bouquets and centerpieces the am of the wedding. Her poor sister and MOH was doing hair and make up. This should have been a breeze, but she was a whole other kind of bridezilla. Passively demanding because she is so artsy herself she wanted everything made by the hands of those she loved. I guess she forgot how stressful that might be for her wedding party.
At one point, I nearly grabbed the bride and said "hey, when you're ready for me and the clusterfuck has been straightened out, im me, I'll be at the beach with my daughters.
Carrie, I shot that wedding this weekend past . . .weather cooperated for the most part, bride was utterly disorganized and the groom uncooperative. We were on the lawn overlooking the beach . . . groom refused to give me my shots on the beach. Three. Steps.Down. and he wouldn't go out onto the beach! THIS is why I loathe doing weddings. Very frustrating weekend. I'm not fully recovered.
Sad to see ya gone & that we never did a shoot together. Have fun & take care!! I'm sure you'll pick up some great clients fast!! You're too darn good. :)
