Influences Guess my Dad, Jack Lee was my first musical influence - being a piano player in the old fashioned dance bands - he used to entertain the troops back in the war, he apparently was in a band with Sid Lawrence before he got famous!! (Who's Sid Lawrence I hear you all say!!!)

   About Carol Lee Sampson
I've been writing songs since the tender age of nine!! Always used to be practising guitar in the kitchen at night, instead of doing my homework! I love writing songs that people can relate to - life's journey takes us through many ups and downs, and there always seems to be a song to help us through! My current CD is a bit like a journal of the last ten years of my life."BACK TO LIFE" is now available to buy online: £12 (including p & p)
"Carol has recorded six albums to date, under her former name of Carol Owen, and has many other songs published by Kingsway Music, a Christian publishing company which is based both here and in the USA. " "BACK TO LIFE" review by "Toxic Pete":...................................................... "My word, this lady's good!! Diminutive acoustic singer-songwriter Carol Lee. Sampson has put together an amazingly impressive album here; 'Back To Life' is just exquisite! This is as good as almost anything similarly ilked out there - Carol has what it takes to be doin' musical battle with any of the female 'folk' artists currently doin' the rounds and she'd probably come out on top in many cases - this lady is a bit special!! Carol has an almost indefinable but magical formula when it comes to penning good 'chunes' and her lyrics are both mature and heartfelt. Listening, I get the impression that Carol's managed to put part of her past to rest - there's some quite deep stuff in here but Carol doesn't let it get too heavy and it's certainly not self-indulgent. 'Back To Life' is a beautifully conceived and elegantly performed piece of work; Carol's vocals are bright, precise and very polished - she has a beautifully balanced delivery that allows her to 'emote' without ever sounding forced or contrived. Instrumentally, Carol's surrounded herself with quality musicians here that seem to have a real, empathetic feel for her work and support her brilliantly. The recording is crisp and well handled and Carol's packaged the whole thing to a very high standard - this is a great album from conception to delivery! Carol Lee Sampson's songs are just about as good as it gets and I can't help but feel that Carol just doesn't know how good she actually is! 'Back To Life' is a stunning piece of work that I've waited a long time to hear - it was well worth the wait - superb!!" Peter J Brown aka toxic pete (www.toxicpete.co.uk) (Rhythm & Booze rating 10)

The Michael Mann, And His Fab Band, Two Part Tour of Malvern, 2008!!!

Ok... I understand that a tour consisting of two dates located not 15 minutes from my house sounds a little... sad! Once more, one may say it's a little sad to give the 'tour' such a long name as... (The Michael Mann, And His Fab Band, Two Part Tour of Malvern, 2008!!!)

...I understand all this, really i do! But with the work on the album really hotting up at the moment, we don't really get the chance to play that much... further more these two dates will be the last we'll play before the album launch (TBA)

The shows are going to be full of great music... with a select few 'Michael Mann Band' members performing solo sets, such as... Jenny Hallam, Lawrence Jepson, Hywel Pothecary and Alex Albrow. Both nights will conclude with the M.M. Band doing are thang! So your looking at around three hours of music for free, as both venues charge no admission!

So... the venues and dates are as follows...

# Priors Croft, Great Malvern, at 8:30 (Thursday 25th of Sept)
# The Lamb, West Malvern, at 8:30 (Friday 26th of Sept)

The full band playing these dates are as follows...

The Michael Mann Band 2008

Alex Albrow – Guitar
Chris Hewitt – Drums
Hywel Pothecary – Bass Guitar
Jenny Hallam – Vocals
Laura Pullen - Vocals
Lawrence Jepson – Keyboards

SO! there you have it... our little two part tour! Cute hu? Hope to see you at Priors Croft and/or The Lamb!

Mike :-)
