Hi everyone! A little about me ... I am a professor at Wright State and the proud Mom of two little boys, Colton & Chase. That's me in a nutshell ... but I'll try to give you a little more detail ...
Bascially I teach communication classes like interpersonal, race/class/gender, and broadcast criticism to name a few. I love my job because I feel like I'm teaching people to get along better and have successful relationships!
Speaking of relationships, another project I am currently involved in is with my very dear, best friend Richard Sutphen. The project is called "Radical Relationship Resource," and it will be a website community where people can come to solve their relationship problems. It will have many features, such as: "Ask Richard & Carol" podcast, message boards, free advice/tips, CDs, and e-courses. Richard and I hope to create a supportive online community where people can work towards having more nurturing relationships. The website will be up very soon so please come check us out!
Speaking of Richard, he has his own radio show on www.ContactTalkRadio.com called "Dick Sutphen's Metaphysical World." I'm his co-host (or side-kick) once a month. He has over 100,000 people subscribing to his show so try and listen sometime if you can.
Let's see, what else can I tell you about myself? I'm also the author of a book: "We’re Not that Different: Two Sisters’ Religious and Spiritual Journeys." I also have a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Nebraska.
In addition to teaching, writing, research, relationship websites and radio shows, I also occasionally act as a consultant and trainer for businesses, schools, and the general public. Some of the organizations I have worked with include Delphi International, the Montgomery County Hostage Negotiation Team, Girl Scouts of America, and the International Association of Business Communicators.
My two boys keep me going every day! Colton is 6 and he's in first grade. He's very smart, funny, and outgoing. Oh and he also has red hair! I swear if they ever do a movie re-make of "The Andy Griffith Show," he'd be a shoo-in for playing Opey. Actually he's already been on TV when he appeared in a Febreeze commercial a couple of years ago. Chase is 4 and he's in preschool at Mini University. He's going to kindergarten next year! Wow! Like Colton, he is also a very silly little man who is loving, smart, and funny. These boys are the light of my life and I'm so proud to be their Mom! I am also the proud stepmother of Jessica. She's 20 and she goes to Ohio University. We're like best friends! We call each other "Wicked Stepmother/Wicked Stepdaughter." It's pretty funny. I'm very blessed to have these kids in my life!
I could write more, but I'm sure you all have better things to do than to sit here and read a "book" about my life!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to hear from all of you!
Oh - and don't forget to Carpe Diem!!!!
Who I'd like to meet: I am here to to meet new and interesting people with similar interests as me (metaphysics, law of attraction, relationships, etc).
Yes it is coming up very soon. July 23rd is my date but I feel like the baby will be here before that. Thanks for understanding. It's a good thing I had to cancel anyway, not feeling so hot today. I'll get back to you with another tentative date :)
I'm so sorry Carol, but I need to cancel on tomorrow. This is our only free full weekend for over a month and I forgot that we were planning on working on the nursery. Would you mind rescheduling? I can do most Sundays. I would love to see you!!! Things are just getting hectic with the clock ticking down.
Michael just informed me that he isn't playing soccer tonight, so we could even get together tonight if you want. Let me know, if not then we'll stick with lunch tomorrow.
lunch on Saturday will probably be best. I'm in Chicago right now (returning home tomorrow) and will get back with you about it when I can look at our calendar.
I talked with Michael last night and he's fine with keeping Cole. After he spent all night playing kickball and then out for a drink afterwards I didn't feel so guilty asking! Do you want to do next Saturday night?
I don't think we have any plans for next weekend but let me double check with Michael. Also, I know I shouldn't feel guilty about this, but I feel guilty leaving Cole with him on a weekend. I'm insane, I know! I'll get back to you in the next day or so. I do really want to get out without the kid though!
