Each week I write a devotional article for my parish bulletin. These began five years ago. I admit that at first I was hesitant about undertaking such a project, but I have now grown to love writing these each week. My other interests include traveling, going to the movies, reading and especially writing.

About me: The greatest mistake we can make in our lives is to shrink from our responsibilities. We have responsibilities to our family, our friends and our jobs. We must give our utmost of love and support to those who play an important role in our lives. They, for their part, must do the same.
However, the greatest responsibility we have – to ourselves and to one another – is to seek God. Saint Padre Pio said, “Do not halt in seeking the truth, in discovering God. Do not be ashamed of Christ and His doctrine.” Little by little, we have begun to dismiss God – from our schools, our society and our homes. What have we accomplished by doing this? Is our world one of peace and harmony? We all seek meaning in our lives, that which will give it purpose. We must seek God – seek His guidance and love.
You need Him more than you realize.

Devotional writing is an interest of mine. My book "Meditations of the Heart" was published in December 2003 and is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders and www.authorhouse.com I have an article available about marriage titled "Marriage of a Princess." In one of the psalms we read the words, “Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.” During a recent visit to the Holy Land, I witnessed this first-hand. In the small village of Nain is a church built in 1895. Unfortunately, there are no Christians in this village to attend the church. However, a Muslim family lives adjacent to this holy building and maintain it. Whenever pilgrims come to visit, they unlock the church to let them visit and pray.
This village is the site where Jesus restored to life a boy who had died; the boy was the only son of a widow. The family who cares for the church, although extremely poor, is rich in love for others. They do not share our faith, yet our small group witnessed their love and compassion first-hand as they unlocked the church in order that we could pray. Goodness and kindness are readily apparent in the smiles of this family. They dwell beside “the house of the Lord” and witness love to people near and far.
