Sounds Like
CARPOOL = track by track breakdown and review:
AVERAGE AMERICAN WARRIOR = confession obsession. Reinvention of a grown up lawn mower boy.
BORING = no curbs. No one's home. Screaming in the night time.
CARPOOL = being alone with donuts and empty conversation.
WHAT HAVE I REALLY WON? = torn apart by the missing parts. Between nothing and no one.
WILMA PLACE = somewhere in outer space.
DAY JOB BLUES = like a death sentence. Dark and dreary.
BURNING DOWN THE NIGHT = Sex and power just feel right.
LONELY FAMILY MAN = What is normal? when no one understands
REHAB GIRL = before Britney & Lindsey and Edie Sedgwick
CHILDREN OF PARADISE = sadness in the land of sunshine.
SUBURBAN LOVE GODZ = the Devil is in the darkness.
RUNNING OUT OF TIME = we need hope. We need respect. We need jobs. We're still here.
The 'hood. Life in the Ghetto. The Mean Streets of Anywhere, USA… but what about the Vanilla Suburbs?
The home of the Forgotten Majority. Behind the closed doors is where the real action is.
These stories of Sex, Frustration, Anger, Fear, Madness, Gladness and Eternal Sadness are @ last told in the Long, Lost Classic Album by CARPOOL: What Have I Really Won? written in 1994 by then-Hollywood resident/music business legend Kim Fowley and North San Diego County Studio Wizard, Andy Machin.
The CARPOOL album was designed to be a Musical S.O.S. Message in an Audio Bottle.
Recording started in 1995 and was an on-and-off/revolving door series of experimental studio sessions that continued for the next 5 years.
Bed Rock Studios moved from Wilma Place to bigger quarters in Escondido, California… where Andy Machin has built a sizeable client list and his highly regarded North County recording studio.
Co-Writer Kim Fowley has carried the album with him on his travels / relocations to Vienna, Austria, Dublin, Ireland, New Orleans, Louisiana… and to his home in Jukebox, California.
Excited listeners in these exotic hotspots felt that the CARPOOL album was a version of Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) fronting a variation of the Gin Blossoms.
So after 12-13 years, it’s a Lost Treasure…a musical message from another time.
CARPOOL's What Have I Really Won? Is a Vanilla Suburbs Tale on a Pleasantville level, with more edge. Remember The Ice Storm?
Think Our Town with Angst. Or how about a Modern American Tragedy on a Place in the Sun level…minus the homicide.

Welcome to Myspace Car Poolers. Looks like you are fresh out of the box, but I like the material here so far. And you have the good taste to make the Gin Blossoms your first friends. I like the feel and approach of your music. Sounds like gritty suburban post-punk to me, which is my kind of sound, definitely. It will be interesting to see how things progress as you market yourselves through this venue. Best of luck to you. Definitely come through Telluride sometime, OK?
