REVIEWS FOR "STRONG WIND: "The disc is an easy, effortless listen, dancing lightly around folk and country structures without strictly adhering to one sound. Every moment sparkles with enthusiasm. It's a (very) early contender for one of the year's best local records." - Joey Guerra - Houston Chronicle, Feb. 14, 2008 .............. The Apocalyptics were formed in July of 2004, and since then have had a great deal of fun making music. They have had the honor of opening up for legendary musicians like Billy Joe Shaver and have lent their time and talents to worthy causes like the Fifth Wards Progressive Amateur Boxing Association and the Houston Womens Center. Carrie Ann does most of the groups song writing. Her style reflects her varied influences...growing up in the mid-West, learning to play music in church, being married to Houstons own roots rocker Opie Hendrix, being a mother. Its hard to pin a style on this group or Buchanans writing, but eclectic and truthful come to mind. The cover songs they do are interesting and unexpected; everything from Black Sabbath to Leonard Cohen, from Black Oak Arkansas to Dolly Parton. Jimb Jackson is a member of Houstons Beans Barton and the Bi-Peds and brings a wealth of creativity, experience and knowledge to the group. Jimb Jackson is one of those rare gems in the music world, amazingly talented and yet modest and subtle. Gary Clark was a member of the legendary Lipps and the Trips. His haunting dobro is a perfect flavor to compliment this bands unique sound. They have received radio attention and have been featured live on KPFTs 24 PM, Pat and Rosies Night Sounds, H.A.A.M Radio and Reach Out in The Darkness. Their first full length album is set for release in February of 2008 through Montrose Records. They have shared the stage with great acts such as Opie Hendrix and the Texas Tallboys, The Grassy Knoll Boys, Billy Joe Shaver, Steel String Theory, The Packway Handle Band, PJ Flowers, Carolyn Wonderland, Anne McCue and the Sisters Morales............ ....Myspace Layouts.. at Pimp-My-Profile.com / ..Vintage flowers.. ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. ..............................Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com!
