Carrie made it to the National Final of the Colgate Country Showdown for the second time. She was one of the five final contestants in the nation who performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on January 24th, 2008. Leann Rimes was the host of the event.

Carrie Joy has been singing since a very young age in church, however she didn't get the performance "bug" until her senior year of high school when she performed in the high school musical. She became a music major her freshman year of college at Southern Illinois University @ Edwardsville. During that year she also became part of two travelling theater groups of which she performed music spanning many genres. She then went on to compete in numerous vocal and talent competitions. In 2002 she decided to enter the biggest talent search in the nation, the Colgate Country Showdown. Starting with a local competition in Terre Haute, IN, she moved on to the State final at the Indiana State Fair. From there she won a spot in the Northwest Regional Final to bring her to the National Final held at Epcot Center in Orlando, FL. The final was nationally televised as well as aired on the Armed Forces Radio and Television where it was viewed by 177 countries and ships at sea. The final was hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus. In 2007 she again made it to the National Final of the Showdown where she performed at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. LeAnn Rimes was the host.

After competing against over 500 contestants throughout the U.S. she currently holds the title of the first ever Branson Idol (now Branson Spotlight) which she won in 2004. She recieved a monetary award and appeared in numerous Branson shows including the Doug Gabriel and Roy Clark Show, KRZK Live Radio Show-Grand Country Saturday Night, and Late Night with Joey Riley.

Carrie Joy has been songwriting for a few years now and is using her songs in competitions. Her song "A Brand New Me" was honored in the Nashville Song Service Lyric Writing Contest.
