  • a book I highly recommend....

    Current mood:grateful

I am reading a book by Eckhart Tolle called "A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.
I find it enlightening and inspiring and so I wanted to pass my experience of reading it along.

  • neck’ n neck....

for me...art and music have both been the two things most consistent in my life. i've been singing and drawing since i can remember. and i'm talking...little girl...way back. both artistic mediums have always been vying for first place. sometimes it has stressed me out to tell you the truth. as i got older and came to a more accepting place in myself i was finally able to appreciate the god given talents i've been given for what they are and to try my best to maximize my potential in what inevitably seems to be a short time on this amazing planet earth. so here i am still...what will it be today...picking up the paint brush or the guitar? lucky me...next plowhaus opening i get to do both. just proving it all works itself out one way or another....all i have to do is show up!
at one point in my life i tried to give up the music...i was miserable. at another time...i put away the art supplies....somehow they found their way back out. so as are far as i'm concerned...they're still running neck n' neck.....
  • the making of the video

one night while watching tim's eclectic collection of music videos with him i had the brilliant brainstorm of asking tim if he'd like to do one for me. it seemed logical since not only did tim do the musical tracks for the song in mind but after seeingfilms he had already done, i knew it would be, if nothing else...original. original in the sense that it would be filled with timisms...a term i coined after knowing him long enough to know there are only things that he could do or say that have always surprised and delighted me.

so...i asked him and to my relief he said yes! that was it...i left it all in his hands.

so a few weeks later he showed up camera in hand...storyline in his head anddirections forgarrett, my son, and i to follow. follow we did...and hence...the video for "The Beauty that Still Remains."

the song is close to my heart, it was inspired by a quote i read from anne frank, and it captured the intense emotions i experienced in the break up of my marriage. i feel tim captured the emotions on film and for that i am grateful.

tim and i have worked together before on creative projects. one where he trusted me with anotebook of his poetry and i sifted through and created a book filled with collages to express his words.

this video project felt very similar to me except reversed. he took my words and added a beautiful soundtrack and topped it with images that haunt and linger.

in the few projects, artistically and musically that tim and i have collaborated on i have always felt our sensibilities have complimented each other in such a way as to create a thing of lasting beauty....

    ....the beauty that still remains.

    thank you tim.
