Ms. Wicks found her passion for jazz in the fall of 2001, when she took her first jazz singing workshop with Katie King. She has continued to pursue the study of vocal jazz since then with the area’s finest jazz musicians: Kelley Johnson and John Hansen, Andy Shaw, Nancy King and Steve Christofferson (at Centrum’s week-long jazz workshops), Carolyn Graye (ensemble work), Deborah Shelton, and Jerome Gray. She improvises with a group called Vocal Bliss and has performed at Café Campagne, Lottie’s Lounge, Egan’s in Ballard, Piazza’s wine bar, as well as Tula’s and Columbia City Theatre (and for many a friend’s wedding). From April 2007 to August 2008 she hosted the weekly vocal jazz jam at Egan’s.
She is currently working on a recording made February 22, 2009, with Bill Anschell, Jeff Johnson, Byron Vannoy, and Hans Teuber.

The Canal was Cool. Eliane told me that when she was playing my album mixes at a party in Brazil, people couldn't believe you weren't Brasileira singing Portuguese! Great work, Carrie!

Apart from being one of those comments you rightfully hate with all your divine powers this also happens to be...well, my stupid attempt to leave a trace in your frontal lobe that'll last more than 10 seconds. I don't believe it'll work. Then again, I believe in unbelievable things.
The album. Download it. Either on iTunes or for free. Let it breathe on your playlist for a while. It will grace your chips, wires, ears. It'll make your aura shine. Then again, maybe you don't like presents. Which is perfectly fine.
Carrie - I'm so tickled that you were at the release party at the Tractor! Thankyou! I'm bummed I didn't get a chance to say hi. It was a good crowd but hard to move around! see you very soon xo Andrea
