A proactive and talented baritone, Jeffrey Carr has repeatedly appeared in performances throughout the tri-state area as well as overseas, having sung in China, Austria, and England. Jeffrey has appeared as soloist for performances of Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and Haydn’s Creation. In March 2007, he was a featured soloist at a symposium hosted by Colonial Williamsburg entitled "The Williamsburg Playhouse of 1760 and the World of 18th-Century Theater." There he sang selections from Thomas Arne’s pastiche, Love in a Village (1761), in the manner in which these works were first heard in Williamsburg’s Playhouse in May of 1771.
Roles include The Learned Judge, Counsel, and Foreman in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Mr. Goldbury in their less-often performed Utopia Limited, Betto di Signa in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Gideon March in Adamo’s Little Women, and Vicomte Cascada in The Merry Widow. He has performed with the Opera Company of Philadelphia, OperaDelaware, Delaware Valley Opera Company, and the Philly Pops with Peter Nero. A versatile artist, Jeffrey has also appeared in several musical theater productions, the most recent being West Side Story. Other roles include Shem in Children of Eden and Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods. Upcoming roles include Dandini in La Cenerentola and Schaunard in La Boheme.
One of his most active performing groups is Spare Change, an a capella quartet that performs throughout the greater Philadelphia area. Currently, he studies in the studio of Richard Johnson. He has coached with Martin Katz, Henry Herford, Robin Bowman, Roberta Morrell, Sue McCulloch, Elaine Kidd, Margaret Humphrey Clark, James Gilchrist.
