One thing is to be for freedom, another thing is to manipulate freedom. Cartell70, the Lisbon trio, born in 2000, make both, and they do it with a social and spiritual commitments rarely associated to electronic projects which involve pleasure and dance.
Cartell70, are everything but a collective generated in half-dozen days, as it happens so frequently in the age of Myspace. The group has tried over half a decade many variants from electronic until, on January 2007, they gave structure to their first album, appropriately called Cartell70.
Armed with the electronical weapons that support "the subversive contents of social awareness", in their own words, Cartell70 ask on their debut album "the rules imposed by the current social political system. Nonetheless, this is a complete album and simultaneously physical and cerebral.
Stories from the street, pendular movements, conflicts, all the urban and suburban everyday life works as a trigger for a parade of revolution and liberation ideas, either individual and collective.

CARTELL70 - the album
Cartell70’s debut album. After a conception period that started late in 2004 at the Toolateman Studio, run by one of the leading portuguese bands Blasted Mechanism, the Project moved on to collaborate with artist such as Dj Nelassassin (International Turntablism Federation Champion 2006), Ithaka, Yellow (Techno Mc and producer for the label Sonic Culture), Blasted Mechanism, Rui Lobato (painter/poet) and Nigga Poison (HipHop/Ragga from Cape Verde). The result was one of the most inovative records that had been made in Portugal, producer Beat Laden explored the areas of Drum n’Bass, Breakbeat with a twist of Dub and Techno, blending uniquely with the 2 voices of the Project, Pablo and Castro.
ITHAKA VS CARTELL70 - Fuse with Me
Ithaka vs Cartell70. Ithaka is an american artist (photographer, sculptor, poet) well known by his vocals on the major house music anthem “So get up” by the Underground Sound of Lisbon (Tribal America, 1995), that shook the dancefloors all over the planet. After 7 releases (by labels as EMI), Ithaka met the recently created project Cartell70 in Lisbon, in early 2006. The connection was strong between all, and “Fuse with me” was born.

O projecto EVERYTHING CAN HAPPEN é formado por dois velhos amigos ,que se conhecem desde o tempo em que o techno e o house ainda estavam em evolução.Enquanto um partiu para inglaterra e seguiu as sonoridades mais pesadas , o outro foi evoluindo na Bélgica ao sabor dos ritmos mais dançantes do house. Depois de 15 anos a tocarem musica electronica , hoje tiram mais prazer da musica quando tocam outras sonoridades, que podem ir desde o reaggae, ao hip hop, passando por intemporais dos anos 50 aos 90,utilizando o funk e a boa disposição como nota denominante.Para estes dois, o mais importante é proporcionar uma noite de boa disposição aos presentes, sem ser preciso recorrer aos beats mais escuros. Numa altura em que no bairro alto,infelizmente, as 2 de manhã são horas de recolher, esta dupla é talvez a dupla mais bem disposta e eclética a tocar por estas paragens,sempre com a intenção de agradar e de vos deixar com um sorriso nos lábios.A experimentar, ao Bairro Alto, no Groove Bar ,á Rua da Rosa, quartas feiras depois das 23.00.Entrada livre, imperial a 1,30 .

É mesmo isso malta, à espera de edição em CD, o 1º EP dos ERVAS DANINHAS já tem as malhas disponíveis para que as ouçam, sempre de volume no máximo e de preferência com as portas e janelas abertas. De momento ainda sem o seu formato completo, num medley de vários momentos do EP, mostra-se os temas que fazem parte deste trabalho de titulo "SEMENTES DA DESORDEM", o 1º EP dos ERVAS. Após alguns avanços, retrocessos, inversões de marcha a queimar traços contínuos, ultrapassagens pela direita e outras infracções ao código das pautas, eis que se concluiu a obra, numa versão tipo "tunning" da banda Pinhalnovense. Mas nada mais se poderá aqui dizer que valha realmente a pena ou que faça real sentido... O melhor mesmo é ouvir, curtir, pensar e se não se conseguir digerir, vomitar.
