The singing and songwriting sisters of Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson, known collectively as Carter's Chord, are the latest act to join the roster of superstar Toby Keith's Show Dog/Nashville record label. The siblings arrive on the Country Music scene with a lineage that marks them as true daughters of the 1970s Outlaw movement that changed the face of Country, being the daughters of Barny and Carter Robertson, who toured and recorded with Waylon Jennings as members of his legendary band The Waylors. As might be expected, the Robertson sisters grew up immersed in music and have been singing together since they were children. Their father played keyboards, sang and arranged strings and their mother was a background singer with Jennings throughout the Outlaw years, and they later rejoined him on the road with the original Waylors band for the last three years before Jennings passed away. The sisters were born in Southern California, and have been writing original songs and perfecting their own brand of Country blues infused with killer sibling harmonies since their youth. Their distinctive style reflects the privilege of growing up with both Outlaw and West Coast country as well as classic country rock and Southern blues. In the fall of 1994, the sisters moved to Nashville. On Valentine's Day of 2006, they showcased for Toby Keith and the Show Dog/Nashville crew at the Nashville club Two Doors Down, and were soon after offered a deal with the label. "As soon as I saw these girls perform, I knew they had to be on Show Dog," says Keith. "They not only have the talent but also the combination of musical roots and a big sound.
