We hope this finds you well!
Caruso are an Irish band based in Dublin. Our debut album 'The Watcher And The Comet', released early 2008 is busy doing the rounds and opening a lot of doors. Since its release we have played Germany, France, Italy, Austria, England, The States and all over Ireland.
Our Irish shows included Whelan's - Dublin, DeBarra's - Clonakilty and Róisín Dubh - Galway, and a lot more venues besides... Great shows with great turnouts! Not to mention, natiowide supports to Jack L - from The Cork Opera House to Vicar Street and all the Theatres in between. Airplay in Ireland, The UK, The US and Italy has helped us take our songs to a much wider audience, helping to establish us abroad!
June 2008 also saw Caruso close out John Kelly's Arts Show, The View on RTE 1 (the last show of the series) with Round The Hardway (see below), while All Your Features was named 'Song Of The Week' on the Ian Dempsey, Today FM's Morning Show, in July. In September 08 we were selected to play The Hard Working Class Heroes in Dublin were we shot our first MUZU.TV live video (below also), as well as making our first video for 'All The Things That She Made Me' in Galway, produced by Little Warrior Films (To be aired in February). Late September of last year saw Caruso play great shows in Austria and Italy.
We closed out the year with more successful dates in Italy, Austria and San Francisco in November/December, rouding it all off in Dublin at the Ruby Sessions and the Cobblestone... Great nights! All in all 2008 was a great year!
2009 will see us take up where we left off... and another busy year ahead.
At the moment we are in the studio rehearsing and demo-ing new songs for the new Caruso album which are penciled in to record this summer (Due for early release 2010).
Mid February will see us back out around Ireland, playing all the familiar haunts (See above) followed by a return to Europe to play a run of dates in March... set to kick off with two shows at the Blues Autour Du Zinc Festival in Beauvais, France. More dates in France to follow, then it's on to Italy, Austria and Germany.
The second half of '09 will take us back around Ireland, a return to Europe and to The States as well as acoustic shows in Newfoundland and New Zealand thrown in for good measure.
Other news: 'Round The Hardway' is to be recorded As Gaeilge (In Irish) for Ceol '09 - A compilation CD featuring the cream of Irelands talent through the Irish language - and is due for realease March '09.
With great developments in the pipeline, this year promises to be a good one...
We hope to see you out there. Tó go bog é...!

Reviews:
"Satellite has the hypnotic creepiness of mid-period U2...'All The Things She Made Me' is truly superb! Caruso are to be saluted for steering clear of the obvious and showing that there's a vast landscape to be explored between singer-songwriter land and planet rock. A very promising start to this year, or any year!" (Jackie Hayden - Hotpress!)
“The Watcher & The Comet... delivers something that in today’s very eclectic music scene can be severely hard to convey: a hint of originality”
(Big Beat Magazine)
Caruso are one of those unique acts who are just impossible to pigeon hole. One minute you’re hearing
the heartfelt warblings of the singer songwriter, the next they’re rocking it out with the best of them.
It’s a perfect marriage between the two, and that’s what makes this Dublin band stand out - ( DJ Sinister Pete - Phantom 105.2 FM - News of the World )
“The Watcher and the Comet is a simple, human affair built on solid lyrics, acoustic guitars and emotionally charged vocals - Jesus I Can Try and the slow burning, Frames-like Satellite are beautifully layered and thoughtful, distinguishing Caruso from the crowd.
”
(Deanna Ortiz – Ticket Irish Times)
“Beautiful and atmospheric debut album from Dublin-based band Caruso”
(Martin Burns – News of the World)
"Sprinkled with gorgeous melodies and sweet hooks, The Watcher & The Comet feels like a forgotten classic"
Eamon De Paor - Metro
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

Hi ., I Draw Slow are playing The Cobblestone, Smithfield in Dublin on Wednesday 24th June, supported by the amazing Thomas Kitt. Doors are at 8.30 and admission is €10, a small price to pay to see the citys two premier acoustic acts don't you agree? On the off chance you disagree, come down on wednesday next to the Cobblestone, Smithfield Dublin and we'd be happy to discuss it.
