About me:
Multi-instrumentalist Cary "the Label Guy" Jordan was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1978. Cary's music career has spanned 15 years as a bassist, during which time he has appreared in several projects stretching from Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, Experimental, Progressive, Ambient and Rock. Some projects include, The Architect Sound(Founding member), Intercooled, Batsauce, Heavenly Noise, Artesian and Equinoxx to name a few. At age 8, Cary learned to play the violin after a long love of strings. Cary later learned to play the cello, viola, double bass, saxophone, guitar and bass guitar. Cary attended Jacksonville's Douglas Anderson School of the Arts (DASOTA), where he played the electric and double bass. There he was classically trained in jazz and classical studies.
Cary entered the music scene in 1994 as the bassist for his first band Equinoxx (contemporary jazz). Equinoxx was formed with fellow Douglas Anderson School of the Arts music major Jeff Byrd (now drummer for J. Dash and Fusebox Funk) and saxophonist Juan Roland. The group quickly grew in notoriety for being young and talented. They performed at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival (America's second largest Jazz Festival) opening for Ken Navarro. At only 16, this was Cary's first major performance in front of thousands of spectators. In 2002 Cary joined the metal–rock band Intercooled. With them he opened for major rock acts like CKY, Shinedown and Trapt. Cary later joined forces with singer Kyle Hallman to form The Architect Sound, which stayed in development for 4 years, during which time the band wrote and recorded constantly. After much deliberation, In late 2007, Cary decided to leave TAS, in persuit of a broader career. The Architect Sound released their EP in August of 2008, without Cary.
Today Cary is the bassist for J. Dash and Fusebox Funk, a powerful merger of Hip Hop, Funk and Rock. Cary is also a loyal Warwick Bass Guitars endorser, often regarded as one of the finest bass manufacturers in the world. In 2007, Cary commissioned the company to make his 'Cary Jordan' Custom Streamer Stage I bass, which he now uses as his main instrument. 'The Label Guy' exclusively plays Warwick basses in the studio and on stage, and has developed an extensive relationship with the company. His Warwick Artist Profile can be seen Here:(Cary Jordan's Warwick Artist Profile). Cary is also featured on the Warwick.de website on several of the the products pages. In 2009, Cary Jordan signed endorsement deals with both Gallien-Krueger(amps and cabs) and SnapJack instrument cables.
Cary has formed powerful alliances with some of the music industry's top bassists. Some have taken Cary under their wing to help propel his career into new dimensions. Cary affectionately said this about his friendships with his peers, some of whom were inspirations to him growing up:
"I am always amazed that I have the opportunity to actually hang out with and speak to some of my most influential idols. Coming up as a young and hungry bassist, I listened to these guys constantly, but never did I ever dream they would eventually become friends, much less help me and my career! My bassist friends are truly a blessing to me. They have given me so much, from inspiration to great licks and an inside track into the music industry".
In October 2008, Cary was featured in Bass Player Magazine which greatly helped his national exposure. Michael Phelan, CEO of Nuerra Records called Cary "One the most innovative bass player's that I have heard!" Ben Jones, bassist for the Neville Brothers said, "There are quite a number of players out there that can't hold a candle to what I've heard from Cary and I sincerely mean that! We are equally big fans of each other and I am prouder that we are friends! "
Cary's style invokes disciplines from all genres. His influences are genre splitting and it shows in his unique abilities and style. Cary is one of the few bassists that are capable of playing, literally, any form of music. He prides himself on his ability to adapt to new settings and ideas. As time moves forward, one thing can be assured, Cary Jordan will be a musician to watch, as he sonically powers his way to the top.
Over Cary's 15 year career as a bassist, he has had the opportunity to share the stage with the following notable performers:

I've just uploaded a couple of new demo tracks, "Lullaby" a tune I recorded with my Spector fretted bass and "Soulmates" a new rough demo recorded with my Zon Hyperbass. I hope you will get to check them out and tell me what you think :)
Yeah man... I totally didnt know the thumb was an active bass. I've played the thumb BO 4 and 5 many many times... and a NT 5 once.. like I was saying, they have ALWAYS been my favorite basses. I didnt mean that they dont have an aggressive tone, and its a give in that they sound much different than just the normal corvette STD 4 bubinga... I just meant like.... it would definately be more along the lines of a Similiar tone. just more flat, warm and bassy. Regardless I still love and will always love the thumb, body, tone, and playability wise...
I just really felt that this stingray 5 was more than the right choice for me, specifically for tone. It really has crazy attack and twang that I have always craved. I still consider myself a warwick player. ;] I have been playing, and checking out warwicks for nearly 10 years now. I've been hurting for a Dolphin Pro-II 4 and an Infinity LTD semi hollow 5 since the first time i've seen them. they are seriously some of the most classy, unique basses i've ever encountered... much less from a somewhat mass manufactured company. I LOVE warwick. I really can't beleive I didnt buy a warwick with this money I got. I'd never guess i would get a chunk of money and not buy one..... I just really got down deep to thinking what would be the right sound for me at this time, and especially for learning 5 string. I think my choice was a smart one for sure. I WILL be continueing to play and rep warwick in my future though.
I want that thumb dirty blonde 5 so bad. What a gorgeous gorgeous bass. I also want a thumb BO 4, and a NT 5... i've always wanted a streamer stage-II 5... man, I could go on and on and on. Hahah. But yeah man, i'll drop you a few pics as soon as I get them! ;]
oh yeah... and right when I was looking into purchasing a bass, once I found out that the Thumb dirty blonde 5 had been bought I started looking at the Streamer $$ 5... Like.. I didnt even at all consider buying anything but another warwick right up until the hour I purchased my EBMM.
remeber us talking about me going straight up a thumb BO 6? that is what I was planning on the whole year or 2 I had been waiting for this money.... you told me to grab a 5 and get used to it for a couple years before going to 6 because I was so used to 4.... but anyways, I was looking into the Streamer $$ over a normal Thumb BO 5 just because I knew tone wise double humbucker would be more up my alley tone wise right now... but then I realized it has passive electronics, and I just really wasnt feeling the honey or nirvana black finish over the swamp ash. I just couldnt bring myself to buy my first expensive Streamer and it not be just drop dead gorgeous like the way I think of streamers when I even hear the name.
sorry if that makes no sense, hahaha. The swamp ash, and the finish on them just wasnt appealing for me. However I do thoroughly enjoy the streamer, and pretty much ALL warwicks in general. I just really got down deep to thinking what would be the right choice for me at the moment... plus i've already been playing Warwick for years, and have never owned an EBMM bass. Fuck it, I went for it. ;]
and yeah, its for sure Maple and not Swamp ash. I think the options are Swamp ash, or maple body... Maple neck... Maple or Rosewood fretboard. Double H or Single H set ups. I went Maple body, maple neck, maple fretboard. Steel fretbars, single H set up. active 4 band EQ with the pick up switch. White pickguard instead of the Tortise shell... its a real gorgeous bass with a seriously angry/funky tone. Pics coming soon!
click my profile next time your on.... Where I used to have a picture of my corvette STD, I added in a thumbnail pic of a na
