Born in Texas but raised in Honkytonks and country stages across the nation, Cary's music roots are deep and wide. Throughout high school and college Cary soaked up the music of 70's rock bands on his turntable as well as the traditional country sounds which abound in his native Texas - all while quietly mastering the frets of that Honer acoustic guitar.
His first break came with fellow Texas artist Clay Walker. Cary joined Walker as lead guitarist for an upcoming Canadian tour which ultimately lasted all summer, covering some 25,000 miles. On the heals of that tour, Cary won a coveted opening spot for another soon to be star, Tracy Byrd. The two began playing shows at Cutters, the now famous honky-tonk incubator in Beaumont. It was Cary's long standing stint at Cutters and the many great musicians he shared the stage with that formed the backbone of his talent and drive to play music professionally. However, it was a lead guitar playing position with newly signed MCA artist Tracy Byrd and the subsequent national touring that finally led Cary to Nashville in 1994.
Within two years of moving to Nashville, Cary's commitment to becoming a writer and artist in his own right began to bear fruit. Cary was signed to a string of publishing and production deals which included Maypop Music Group (owned by the super-group Alabama) and Starstruck Music (owned by Reba McEntire). While staff writing and working with several high profile producers including Emory Gordy Jr., Cary got a call from Tracy Byrd to return to the road.
Life on the road re-lit the fire for playing live and sharing music with fans across the country. That passion is burning as strong today as ever. Cary is currently playing acoustic guitar on the road with Mark Chesnutt and working on his own debut CD release entitled ..Shine.. due out in 2009.
