About me:

.. MISSION
CASA 0101 is dedicated to the Chican@ Arts Renaissance in Boyle Heights by providing vital arts, cultural and educational programs to our community.
HISTORY
CASA 0101 was founded by Josefina Lopez who brought live theater and educational/cultural experiences to her predominantly Spanish-speaking, immigrant hometown of Boyle Heights. Boyle Heights has a rich history of being one of the first towns established in Los Angeles and therefore has been a "port of entry" for many immigrants to the United States. This microcosm of the American immigrant experience has left a legacy of multi-ethnic art, history, community and tolerance that has fostered the creative spirit for generations.
WHY THE NAME CASA 0101?
CASA means house/home in Spanish and 0101 is the original binary language of computers that can also translate into the concept of everything & nothing, yin & yang, life & death, etc. It is a commitment to exploring the world and oneself in the context of opposites and the balance of synergic flow.
