My first true nightclub experiences were in NYC at the now legendary west side underground spot...Twilo. I was taken back by the opening DJs that at the time (circa 1999-2001) were very skillfully and artfully warming up the room for bigger, international DJs. I quite liked the softer, techy, yet hypnotic sound scapes that they were pioneering. Just the right dose of energy I thought, for dancing, interacting and pondering the nature of universe- nothing too hard or driving but more subtle and intelligent. Thus, without really knowing it...I was beginning a love affair with that world, that restrained esthetic- minimalistic and yet functional. The story is still unfolding and I'm still playing with these ideas...
