Doomed impulse projects. Baroque counterpoint. Candor. Genres that end in -punk. Monkeys. Blanket forts and other child-at-heart pursuits. Overcoming the Midwestern Disease. Pretty much just trying to keep it real.
Music
I like to make my own, or listen to anything that sounds like it was created by something with a little soul, even though I don't believe in souls, rather I think we're all just bags of chemicals. Chemical bags. Beautiful, beautiful chemical bags.
..
Music likes: screaming electric guitars, sea shanties, beeps and blips, baroque counterpoint, sexy latin syncopation, the blues, barbershop, etc.
Movies
I like dark humor, dark non-humor, old classics, character studies, Kubrick, action movies with hot chicks, anything cleverly written, serial killer thrillers, if it has spaceships or dragons (or both) I'm totally there, obligatory kink movies like Secretary and Quills, pure cheese like Robot Jox and Six-String Samurai, and movies with ninjas or pirates or robots or monkeys or zombies or eskimos (perhaps not the preferred nomenclature, but a word I enjoy saying too much to abandon: eesssskeeeeemooooo). Did I mention Robot Jox?..
Television
I'd rather read.
When I moved into the house I got rid of cable, and I don't miss it. The only show I really watch is Lost. If downloaded shows and Netflix count then there's also the occasional Comedy Central binge and Dexter whenever there's a new season.
I miss Sifl & Olly.
Books
I've gotten myself into the habit of reading one fiction book & one non-fiction book concurrently. Right now I'm between non-fiction books but it'll probably be something about sleep or dreaming maybe, and right now the fiction end is lots of Neal Stephenson.
Last few:
The Lucifer Effect
The Arabian Nights
The Seven Basic Plots: Why We Tell Stories
Galapagos
Mind Hacks
The World Is Flat
About me: I have trouble narrowing my interests to a tolerable and productive level. Somehow I still manage to take names.
Who I'd like to meet: * Poets, lyricists, songwriters, or musicians (I've never really successfully pursued creative collaborators, but would like to change in this regard)
* Artists or actresses or otherwise hip & creative dudes who will invite me to hip & creative parties
* People with eidetic memories or who just remember a lot of stuff
* Scientists
* People who engage my wit
* Ben Franklin (all around cool guy)
Hey, Casey, I just got around to listening to Memerock and I have to tell you, I was impressed. I was kind of expecting it to be like a guy that I knew in high school who thinks his music should be heard, but shouldn't. Then, I was proven wrong. In fact, I think later this week "Blue Dot" will make the song on my page. I'm proud of you, buddy.
Happy Birthday, buddy. Don't get too intoxicated tonight. In fact, just drink some milk. Make it chocolate if you'd like. I mean, it IS Wednesday! Wa-hoot!
Well, thanks, buddy. I will always hold a special place in my arms for you. My heart has been over run as of late. Sorry, dude. However, I think you should come back to the Heeby GB and we'll have a drink while discussing how much we hate the white man.
Hey, congrats on the house, man. I'll make you a deal: you can live in the basement while i live in the rest of it. Deal? Awesome! Thanks, buddy. Oh, and if you want bagels, you have to make them yourself. I'm not your maid!
Did I tell you that I got a random wedding invitation in the mail (addressed properly to me) from a mormon couple I've never met or even heard of? Guess where the wedding was: NIBLEY.
So, you should come to GB and we can rock the mic. Not to brag, but I'm the greatest musician that has ever lived. It's a curse. Anyway, come back and we'll play the spoons.
