Casey and the Rockers is currently just me.
I played with a few groups, sort of under the radar, in Montreal over the past few years, but I have found that writing and recording "on a whim" and on my own is working pretty well these days. So that's what you get.
Performing solo, however, is not that much fun, so I don't tend to play around too much.
I play country music at the Wheel Club (Cavendish just south of Sherbrook) every so often on their Monday hillbilly night. Great music! Bring the whole family!
I do a radio show Monday nights from 1-2 AM on CKUT FM 90.3. You can listen to the last eight shows on archive online for free at:
http://secure.ckut.ca/cgi-bin/ckut-grid.pl.
I have not put out any records, but I have been amassing lots and lots of recordings of varying quality. I might like to release this stuff in some way some day, but for now I am making mix CDs and playing my tunes on the radio.
That's the story,
Casey
Whoa Casey, sorry for all the spam....it wasn't me...I swear...damn phish-ers!
Just dropping in to say hi! Sorry I missed you when you were in town...dug the 3D "Hi Tara!" note...it's on our fridge!
Also, can you send me your current address? I am doing a mail art project for school, and I want to put you on my list of recipients, seeing as you're always sending us cool postcards and stuff...it's worth your while! Believe me! Maybe there will even be some burnt garage CD's in it for ya...
So Ben and I went to Margaret Flood's house for dessert and beers just now. I asked to see a few of the Shapetionary submissions, and when she pulled the box of them out, guess who's envelope of drawings were on the very top of the pile? CASEY J's of Montreal, PQ!!! I picked it out immediately....I loved your BRIC-A-BRAC!
Small fucking world, isn't it? I submitted, like, 40 drawings to Margaret. She lives a couple of blocks away from Ben and I.

When I saw new Moo-zik, I thought I would have a cow. Wah wah wah. Put the sound of a hog starting up in "Black Leather"; that song reminds me of the song "Hot Blood (aka The Wild One)" played by Shorty Rogers and his orchestra. How's it going player? Any news on the how the rhythm track is coming?
this is karen and i have not seen you in ages! where are you?
i'm writing to let you know that the city of Toronto finally has a buy-the-pound again. It's on 480 Parliament St and its awesome. $3.oo per pound, and really good quality.
the store is just north of college on parliament, and i highly recommend you check it out. and then hang out with me and ben.
There's a cover of a rolling stones tune you did on your show but I don't know what it's called; What is it called? It sounded good.
When are you going to post up new music? I've been checking every now and then but I just keep getting my heart broken. Do it. Do it soon.
That photo was taken by Mary Jane Caro outside Grumpy's a certain Tuesday evening (open mic night). If you run into her you should ask her to take some band photo's, she's very good.
What else? Oh yeah, I recently heard a song I hadn't heard in like 18 or so years: "Misty Blue" by Dorothy Moore. Look it up, I think you might enjoy it. I'll dial the Operator soon. Adios Amigo.
Casey- I've been meaning to tell you about this CD for the longest time! Gun Club's Early Warning disc two- the bedroom demos sounds EXACTLY like your stuff...it's acoustic bluesy-punk by the Gun Club's singer, Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Honest to God Casey, if you ever find this BUY IT. I love it, and everytime I listen to it, I think "Casey needs to hear this." If you can't find it, I'll burn it for you...
I listened to your ENTIRE radio show tonight, and I must say...it was AWESOME. Great variety with daring song transitions that worked SO well!! Who would have thought that the Dolls' "Bad Girl" would have gone so well with Terminal State?!? Also, I loved that dirty song by that female singer from the thirties...it was insane.
Can't wait to hear your next show!!!
~Tara.
BTW- I actually have a request...can you play the Stooges' NO FUN next time you do the show? I've been really digging that song lately. Send it out to Ben from me...HA HA!
Long time no speak! How's Montreal?
I got your message a couple of weeks ago.
Don't worry...Ben's not ignoring it...he's just
been away on tour/at a cottage/doing a moving
job with his father for the past two weeks.
I'm sure he'll give you a shout as soon as he get's back in town! I hope everything is well
with you...thanks for adding Babel!
-Tara!
PS: I love the songs you have up! Restless is my favourite...you probably could have guessed! It sounds like it could be right off of one of those "Back From the Grave" compilations we both like so much...haha!
Casey man, this new shit is awesome! All ye people of the world thank the good lord this man was born. Are Jake & Chris playing on these tracks? I thought I heard Jake ripping of the beatles on Armaggedion ... I'm jealous like poisoned avocados.
